Happy Easter!

What a beautiful, wonderful, sunshiny day we had here in Utah for Easter! It started really early for me. Now first let me say that I'm a light sleeper. It's a rare day that anyone can get through my bedroom door without me becoming wide awake, but not this morning.

I woke to a deep voice very near my ear calling, "I'm here!" No, it wasn't the Easter Bunny, although the jump-start to my heart might have indicated otherwise. It was the Dog Walker and it was 6:45 in the morning. He had just gotten off work and he was anxious to spend Easter morning with his siblings before he went to bed.

My sweetie groaned and rolled out of bed. Yeah, it was early for a Sunday morning.

Most of the kids were still half asleep, but they happily crawled out and congregated at the top of the stairs. Crafty carried Baby Doll who was still totally zonked. The kids dumped their baskets, pounced on the candy, especially the Reese's eggs, and then started hunting down the missing hard-boiled eggs.

Finally awake!
We found most of them. I think. See, here's the deal. That crazy Easter Bunny NEVER remembers to count before he starts hiding eggs, so we never know how many there really are. When we filled that last box, there were still five eggs missing. Princess tried to convince me that the box only ever had seven, but I was doubtful.

Later this afternoon, Crafty found two more eggs in the kitchen window and when the Gym Rat passed a little too close to the doorbell box, an egg dropped to the floor. So there are still two missing spots with the possibility of two missing eggs.

One year we actually found an egg several months after Easter hidden in a closet underneath some hanging clothes. We very carefully removed it with a sealed plastic bag and took it straight to the dumpster. Hopefully we won't have that problem again!

After our revelry was over, I crawled back in bed for a couple of hours before church. I love 11:00 church! We enjoyed our meetings and the focus on Jesus Christ and his resurrection which is of course the real reason for Easter celebrations and then we made our way home to oatmeal and strawberries for lunch.

My sweetie made an amazing dinner with ham, deviled eggs, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and potatoes au gratin. We squeezed in a few rounds of Pinochle in the afternoon and this evening my sweetie and the kids watched a movie while the Dog Walker and I did some homework. All in all, it's been a pretty awesome day.
