COVID-19

You may have wondered why I have been missing for a while. With numbers soaring in Utah, you are probably not surprised to hear that I tested positive for COVID-19.

Though my quarantine was officially over last week, I have been laying low just to make certain all is well.
It wasn't  really that bad. I slept for two straight days in the beginning and although I checked my temperature religiously, it turns out that our thermometer was defective.

We think all the kids at home also had their moment of illness and now we believe that we have actually beaten COVID-19. Honestly, the fear and worry for us was much worse that the actual disease. It was very much like the last time I had the flu.

I hope you are all staying healthy and happy. Wear your masks!

Passing on a Legacy

Sometimes it seems like raising kids is a thankless job. All those great teaching moments...do they ever take?

This time of year, when the harvest hits, I still spend many hours in the kitchen, canning vegetables and fruit.
Sadly, most of my kids are willing to help if I ask, but they have seldom taken on large canning projects on their own.

Until now...
This is Bossy's kitchen and beans from her very own garden. And this is her project...and her helpers...
...and the next generation of harvesters.

Baby Doll's Birthday Party

Birthday parties are pretty tricky nowadays. When Curly turned 12, we just took a few family members to the movies, but since then, he has been invited to 3 other parties.

That made it so much harder for us to convince Baby Doll she couldn't have a friend party. My neighbor even offered use of her indoor pool, so last Friday was the day.
I let her hand out 12 invitations and she had 9 kids come + Scout, Curly, and Baby Doll.
The chlorine was high and we had them wear masks when they were out of the water. It was so much fun to just pretend everything was normal for a couple of hours.

We Have a New Little Granddaughter!!

I've been so excited to share our news, but we had to wait for Princess and The Frog to make their official announcement.

Our sweet little Dutchess was born very quickly on Tuesday morning.
She weighs 8 lbs 10 oz and she has a bunch of light brown hair.
The boys think she is pretty awesome (especially Daddy).
But they are all pretty enthralled!

We can't wait to see her.
In real life, I mean.😊💕👶

Reflect on Reflections: Dance 2012 by Sport

Sport was working on a Sterling Scholar application and we were looking back through all of his scrapbooks and that led to old Reflections videos. I had forgotten about this one. Curly is 4 and still curly. The two of them are so cute!

I hope they always stay the best of friends.

South Jordan Library

Curly had a great time filming information about our local library for his Citizenship in the Community merit badge.

As soon as I can get Drama Queen to forward the link, I will put it on here for you.😉

You should be able to see his cute video now, but if you are using your phone, you might have to scroll down and select "view web version" at the bottom.

Happy Birthday, Baby Doll!!

Can you believe this cute girl turns 10 today?
We had a family party for her on Sunday. She made her very own blue cake. Bossy helped her a little with the frosting and the decorating, and it turned out so cute!
She opened some of her gifts on Sunday, but we saved a few for today, including a cute new outfit. (Maybe I will have to upload more pics tomorrow since these are all from
Sunday.)
We even let her open this large Lego set on Sunday morning before the family came so she and Curly could put it together during General Conference.
The one thing she told me she wanted to do when she turned 10 was to grow out her bangs. I will be so happy when I can finally see her beautiful eyes again!
Happy birthday, my sweet Baby Doll! Not a baby anymore.

Dog Walker, it's A'MAZE'ing!!

Like me, I know you look forward every year to seeing the awesome corn maze that the Dog Walker puts together on our front lawn. This year he has gone above and beyond to make it the best year ever!!

Here are some pics, but make sure you drive by in person. You won't be sorry!

Happy October 👻

Getting a Promotion

My sweetie has been working at the same company for quite a while now and they are really good to him. He hasn't stepped foot in the office since COVID-19 began, yet he works hard every day from our home office. This week they rewarded him for all of his efforts with a nice promotion.
So we did something we have rarely done in the last six months... we took everyone out to dinner!
The kids love Texas Roadhouse, especially the rolls.
Baby Doll was so excited about her giant lemonade! It was the same color as her dress.
I wish promotions came around a little more often.

Finally an Eagle

It seems like forever since Sport completed that final Board of Review back in December. Then we waited until February for his postcard to arrive from BSA's national council.

Unfortunately, there wasn't time to plan an Eagle Court of Honor before I had surgery on my foot in late February.
Drama Queen designed and printed the invitations for the original Court of Honor with the date of March 29. When they shut down our world, I tossed all but one in the garbage can.

We were determined that wouldn't happen again. So we planned our new event to be outdoors, with social distancing, masks, and fresh air.
Sport did a great job talking about his project!
I loved watching all the Eagles stand with Sport and repeat their Oath.
Especially my boys.
I was so proud to be standing with Sport and watching while our Bishop presented his Eagle award.
All in all, it was an amazing day.
