September Family Party

Even though Curly's birthday was last month, we decided to theme this party around Curly's favorite dishes since this is the last one he will be able to attend for 2 years. All I had to do was make Crescent rolls from the little cans. He loves those! Easy for me.

We celebrated Princess and Crafty. Princess turns 30 on Thursday and she is finding it pretty stressful.

Right before the party, Curly and I went to his last Court of Honor. He received 3 merit badges and a fourth Eagle palm.

Scout and K made an amazing Swig Bar.

A Week to Remember

Using Oliver Cowdery's infamous words, "These are days never to be forgotten." It is so nice to have a missionary in our home again.

This week has been packed full of so many things we wanted to do with Curly before he heads to the Provo MTC. He was set apart as a missionary on Tuesday and he started Home MTC on Wednesday morning. We used his spare hours to make another trip to the temple, and I took Baby Doll to the chiropractor for the 2nd time.

On Thursday morning, Curly, Dog Walker, and I used Curly's lunch break to do Initiatories at the temple. Baby Doll had a volleyball match in Riverton in the evening. She has had pain in her shoulder/ribs as a couple of them became misaligned, but she still played hard. I embarrassed her a bit by bringing a bag full of beans to snap during the game. Curly made dinner; bacon, egg, and cheese muffins. They were delicious. After that, we played volleyball at the church for an hour or so before we had to get Curly home for curfew.

On Friday, I ran my own errands, did laundry, groceries, all that stuff. In the evening, I made baked potatoes and meatloaf for everyone before we went to the temple with Princess and The Frog, Crafty and Craftsman. Afterward, we went to Nielsen's for ice cream.

On Saturday morning, I went to Skittles' football game. Curly and Scout came over when his meetings were finished. We worked on my repair list (things I want help with before he leaves), knocking off several big items. I turned a bowl of tomatoes into spaghetti sauce for the dinner he is making on Monday. I also hung out in the evening with Beauty and The Beast while Culy did their yard work. Beauty and I snapped my batch of beans on the porch. After a quick stop at Home Depot, Curly took me to Sonic for a drink and tots. Being his companion has some nice perks.

All through these days, I picked, snapped, and canned beans. Our total for the week is 25 quarts. I also replaced a zipper for K, cut out 7 little dresses, finished binding a quilt, embroidered names on the last 2 shirts for Curly, and probably a dozen other little things.

I am so tired. But I love watching Curly grow and change. Discussing scripture with him and going to the temple together are some of my favorite things. It has definitely been a week to remember.

Wordless Wednesday - So Happy for Skittles!

It's not quite wordless, but we are all so happy for Skittles and his decision to be baptized. They had a beautiful program. Taco did the baptizing and Gamer performed the confirmation. I did a really good job watching. 😉💕

Curly's Mission Farewell

Yesterday was Curly's Mission farewell. His talk was amazing and we had so many friends and family members there.

We served lunch and treats after sacrament meeting. Dog Walker was my photographer as usual.

As if that day weren't exciting enough...

So Busy!!

Curly's mission farewell is on Sunday and we are rapidly preparing food and the house so we can entertain guests after he speaks at church.

I cooked the roaster full of sweet pork today and it is safely in the fridge until Sunday morning. 

My chairs project is going well. They are all finally painted and ready for urethane.

Hopefully, I can finish them tomorrow. I wanted this project over before people come.

I have also been picking and canning beans.

And doing a little sewing.

We even went to the temple this morning to do sealings. We are trying to get to the temple as many times as possible.

Life is busy.

Labor Day Weekend, last day

Monday was nice too. I worked some on the chairs I have been refinishing. I was hoping to get them done before Curly's farewell on Sunday.

Baby Doll's car, the old green Mazda Protégé finally died. Thankfully, our mechanic and long-time friend had another little car he was trying to sell. I was happy to give him what he asked for this cute Toyota. It's a 2006, so that's quite an improvement to the 1994 Mazda.

I also finished the quilt Curly and I made for his girlfriend. She absolutely loved it!

I made a new recipe, a Mississippi Pot roast. It was delicious! I also prepared this Tupperware for the Welby Elementary silent auction.

And of course, we played Monopoly...

It was the perfect Labor Day weekend.

Labor Day Weekend, part 2

Sunday was nice and rather quiet.  After church, we watched The Newsies.

I didn't have to cook because we had pulled out a bag of sweet pork from the freezer. That gave me plenty of time to play a rousing game of Monopoly with the kids.

I also finished binding the quilt with the blocks the kids made at the family campout. I think it turned out really cute. Dog Walker wanted you to show you the back as well.
