Tired of Homework

Can I just say I'm tired of homework? Does that make me a bad mom? Sometimes I feel like I've been in school forever. I know it's a good thing to keep exercising my brain, but does it count if I take 5th grade math over and over and over...?

Did I tell you the Dog Walker is taking an Intro to Disabilities class? He is busy reading me the chapter on Autism. It's pretty interesting except that he stops about every 30 seconds and says, "Was I like that?" It's driving me a little crazy!

I don't mean to be ornery, really I don't. It's just there are some nights when I would like to come home from a busy day of errands and activities and just head off to bed with my Sweetie. He gets up at dark-thirty for work and often leaves before I'm awake at 6:30 to get the kids up. I never get to bed before he has been snoozing for a couple of hours. I think I saw him for about 30 minutes today. We spent the time talking about the kids and their activities and a quick run-down on both of our days and he was off.

During the day the Dog Walker works on math and discussions and things he does on his own with me just doing a final check before submission. At night he reads his textbooks aloud to me and we discuss the assignments before he does them. Last night I got a whole chapter of Economics and tonight we are reading from his Special Ed book.

He is thinking maybe he would like to work with Special Needs kids in some way. I'm just glad that he is finally finding something he might like to do. I don't know if he will ever
finish a 4-year degree, but for now he is scheduled to graduate with his AS degree next fall.

That's a lot more late nights...

I read your blog early each day..I think your son is remarkable, my friends work in special education I always used to think of down's syndrome kids and autistic but it means a whole lot more, be very thankful to the Lord your son is not a soon to be person doing horrible things in our society, they end up in prisons, juvenile justice centers tossed away and aside from their families..they try devilish things and end up incarcerated and on to lives of meagnerness and crimes, they don't know what or where to begin, it is shameful their families abandon them..you and your Sweetie take good care of your nearly grown son, he is educated, loved, knows the Lord and adores his familia, esp. the littlest daughter Baby Doll?!!!!!! how I pray for others to cherish and take care of their families, even if one child has some problems, everything can be overcome if the parents and familia love and cherish and love the Lord, what a great example you and your Sweetie are of your faith and deep and abiding love and cherishing of your sweet family..ciao and God's Blessings alsoX()X()

Being tired of homework means you're actually a pretty stellar mom because it means you're aware of the homework that your kids have! I had classmates in jr high/high school whose parents had NO clue what was going on at school. You're tired of homework because you have plenty of kids in school and you're actually involved in their lives! That's one of the things I LOVE about you!

Also, I LOVE that Dog Walker is getting is AS degree, that is really impressive and speaks volumes about you, Sweetie, and your entire family! Getting my brother through high school was a big challenge for members of my family, so we celebrated big when he graduated! I can only imagine the work you do to help Dog Walker with his college load.

I hope you get a night off from homework soon, even if it is only one night! You deserve a break! I don't know if life ever really calms down for y'all--it seems like there are always plays/dance recitals/sports/scouts going on, on top of school and mutual for the older ones. Hopefully with Christmas break you'll get a break from homework, although then there will be all sorts of other things to be doing...

I can't even imagine myself trying to do what you are doing now with helping your children with school work. I would be no good at Math.
I think it is so awesome that your son is going to school and doing well. You are all just so awesome. I do hope you find some more moments to be with your Sweetie.
Blessings!

Homework is often the thorn in my side every day! But at least you care enough about your kiddos to help them with their work...I know a lot of parents who just "trust" that their child did everything, and then are shocked when they come home with failing grades.

Oh, I'm so over homework. I don't mind the first grader's because the assignments make sense. But my third grader gets busywork and it takes over an hour to complete, which I think it way too much for third grade.

I'm done with homework too. Sometimes I forget to even check my kid's homework!
So glad to read that the Dog Walker (great name!) is succeeding in school. Good luck to him!
