Curly is such an amazing boy.
He turned 8 on Friday and he was content to have us spend most of the day setting up for Princess's wedding. He only complained the tiniest bit, so today we tried to make it up to him by having a big family birthday party!
We gave away the rest of the cupcakes from the wedding this morning so no one would be able to complain about more cake. The kids all came over about 6:00 and by 6:30 we were serving hamburgers and hot dogs in the backyard. (Wedding stuff crowded us out of the living room although Drama Queen has managed to take care of most of that for us today.)
The little kids played Curly's new game while I frosted the cake. His life is all about football right now so of course he wanted a Denver Broncos cake. It was tricky using the hat as a cake topper. I didn't want to get frosting all over it, so I tried to put down plastic wrap first, but it was pretty slippery. I don't think I will ever try that again. It just wasn't that successful, but he loved the hat and the chocolate cake.
I think his two favorite gifts were the huge box of 120 crayons and the package of mechanical pencils.
We didn't see the newlyweds, of course; they are enjoying a couple of nights in a hotel downtown.
And you know us, we have a party of some sort almost every weekend.
