Mom asked me to write a post for her, because she's a little tired from celebrating Halloween and she's still trying to recover from the sickness that a lot of us have had during Fall Break. Halloween was really fun to celebrate this year. Starting this morning, Mom and Dad asked me to pick some apples from the tree, because Mom wanted try to make something different. Remember she showed you on how she makes grape jelly? Well, she used the same steamer to make some delicious homemade apple cider. I put on a lot of fun Halloween movies for Mom to watch while she was making the cider.
In the afternoon, Bossy couldn't go watch Skittles in his costume parade at school. So she asked me to go and cheer Skittles on for her. All year long, Bossy wanted me to be a part of the group costume of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, because she had worked hard to make her ninja turtle costumes for her little boys. I was obligated to be Shredder, one of the villains in the franchise, but I wanted to support my sister and it all worked out for her.
After watching Skittles in his costume parade, I went back to make sure things were all set up for the trick-or-treaters. Mom was still making apple cider while she was also preparing leftover pork and chili Verde into burritos and bean dip. I still kept putting on Halloween movies just to keep the day going with fun and while waiting to give out treats. And I also have prepared our famous apple and banana salad with only the apples from our apple tree. It turned out very delicious, especially when it was almost all the way homemade.
Baby Doll, Scout, and Her Friend went trick-or-treating while Curly went to his girlfriend's Halloween party. We had to make sure our Grandpa didn't try to help himself to the Halloween candy, but with him memory loss, it was really hard to do so. He just kept forgetting he had already filled his pockets with them. We were hoping that the Halloween movies would keep him distracted.
Some kids in costumes came for treats. Mom didn't have enough candy bars to give to them, so I had a backup plan with Gushers. The kids really loved them. After a little while, Beauty and the Beast, and their boys came over to do the rest of the trick-or-treating and also join in the group costume photo. How do we look as a group costume?
Happy Halloween!
