Ever Seen Gamechanger?

No, I don’t mean "a" gamechanger, although we saw one of those today too when Baby Doll's undefeated team lost 3 games in the second half of pool play, sliding them down to the Bronze Division where they proceeded to win first place. So technically they took 9th out of 32 teams, 31 of which were 13U. We were the only 12U team and we were missing a couple of players too. I'm gonna call that a win!

But I digress...

I mean Gamechanger! It's a nifty little app you can put on your phone so on the off chance that your cutie is playing in a volleyball tournament at exactly the same time your boy is playing a couple of games of baseball, you can still keep track of the game.

For example, Curly pitched the entire 2nd game.

He pitched 6 innings, struck out 9 batters and only walked one! It has been a few years since I have stressed while he is on the mound, but it sounds like I better get used to it.

So proud of you, Curly!
You too, Baby Doll!

Such a Whirlwind

Life is such a whirlwind lately! Between writing and submitting our ZAP grant for the ballet, dance, baseball and volleyball games, school, Grandpa, remodeling Grandpa's house, scouts and cookies, graduations, family stuff and doctor's visits, my head is spinning...

This weekend is Baby Doll's last volleyball tournament, and rather than drive all the way from Heber City, we decided to get a room in Midway at a ridiculously fancy place called Zermatt. That's what happens when you wait until the last minute to decide or maybe because you were swept up in all those things in paragraph 1.

Isn't she cute? Anyway, Baby Doll is doing an amazing job in the Friday night of this 2-day tournament. Her team won every game, likely throwing them into the Gold bracket, but we will know for sure tomorrow.

They are missing a couple of girls so Baby Doll has been playing setter half the time and hitter the rest of the time. She is amazing!

Here are more cute pics of her if I can get enough bandwidth to add them. Just one more strike against fancy old hotels. And don't get me started on resort fees that you don't get to use, not even a little.

She doesn't like the distracion of pics during the game, but hey, what's a little pain for posterity?

Another Wet and Soggy Baseball Game

We had another wet one. I know we prayed for rain, but for baseball's sake, we would be ok if it would stop now.

Things were wet here in the valley, but Curly's game was in Layton, so we were hoping it would stay dry. As we drove up to the field, we tossed Curly out for warmups and we watched from the van as he took batting practice with the team. They usually warm up for about an hour, so after 45 minutes in the van, we decided to set up our folding chairs, wrap up in our blankets and freeze to death while Curly enjoyed his time with the team.

No sooner had we taken our seats, but the hail smacked us with a vengeance. The tiny balls of ice were a bit smaller than frozen peas, but they still hurt if they hit you in the face as both Baby Doll and I can attest to. We finally gave up and ran for cover (ok, it was a quick walk...). Even the team ducked under the eaves of the nearest restroom to wait it out.

The crazy weather in Utah gave up soon and the rain became a soft patter as we ventured back out of the van and the boys took the field. Someone even kindly loaned me an umbrella. Curly did a great job at first base and he pounded a double into deep center field when it was his turn to bat.

Unfortunately, our pitcher wasn't doing quite as well. After a couple of innings, they put Curly on the mound. This used to be a common occurrence a few years ago, but lately he hasn't been called on to pitch. It always makes me so nervous, but not him.

He did a great job and even though they lost 10-4, the innings he pitched were scoreless.

Oh, and 2 of those points the team made were because of his ginormous hit.

Awesome game, Curly!

Guest Blogger: The Super Bowl by the Dog Walker

Mom has asked me to write a post for her, because she's tired and being tired does kind of prevent writing ideas. But I digress! I've been longing to talk about this fun event back in February, but ever since at that time, Mom has been talking about all those fun times on a trip back East with Dad.

As you might as well know, we always liked watching the Super Bowl every first Sunday of February. We were even excited to hear that one of the teams playing was from New Jersey, exactly where Teach and her family live. This was way back before I went on that trip to visit them. The Eagles were the team that Teach and her family were rooting for.

Despite with Mom and Dad gone, and not much family has come to celebrate and have fun with us, it was just me, Scout, Her Friend, Curly, Baby Doll, Grandpa, and a little bit of Crafty (she was only here for a few minutes). We made these fun and delicious pizzas for dinner. I made one interesting pizza for myself that no one has ever made before. I call it a Breakfast Pizza, because the toppings are diced ham, bacon bits, sausage bits, and eggs. It was really tasty, imagine if you were told that you can't eat pizza for breakfast. Well, for this, it would be an exception.

We watched the Super Bowl and the Eagles were in the lead during the first half. The halftime show was Rihanna, Drama Queen's favorite Pop singer. There were some songs that we recognized by her and she did quite a performance, while she was pregnant at the same time! It was crazy. Anyway, during the second half, the Chief's started to catch up to the Eagles, we were rooting for the Eagles at first, but after the Chiefs started making unexpected plays and scores, it turns out that they became the Super Bowl champions.

Despite it being a party with just us here and not with Mom and Dad, it was still a fun time for us. I hoped that the rest of the family was having fun of their own as well, and I'm sure they have by now. Sorry about this long awaited post about the Super Bowl, but it was really fun to share it with everyone.

Finally Finished

Let's see, how many weeks ago was Easter?

The week before that, I bought a 1000-piece puzzle of the Last Supper. I thought maybe with the bunch of us, we could get it done over the Easter weekend.

I was SO wrong! But today, Grandpa and I finished it.

Isn't it beautiful?

Someone is ON MY LIST!!

So a few days ago, my sweetie took on a major project; he cleaned all the carpets on the main floor, including my laundry/craftroom. I had been wanting it done since right after we got our cute little frenchie last year.

As a pup, she decided my craftroom carpet made the perfect litterbox and anytime anyone left the door open, I would find another spot.

Fast forward to yesterday...someone left the door open and I found 3 pieces of  💩  on my freshly cleaned carpets. Of course, I took care of them right away and gave a "shout out" to the kids to do better with the doors.

Tonight when I got home from Curly's baseball game, there were 4 little puddles on my used-be-clean carpet! My shout out was bigger and louder this time and now Pebbles is officially ON MY LIST!

No. I don't care if you're sorry...

Don't you give me those puppy-dog eyes...

10-Year Pin

So proud of my awesome Scout! She earned her 10-year scouting pin and she received it at an awards ceremony today.

It was a little crazy. She left work for 45 minutes and we all had to slip out a few minutes early to clock her back in.

Good job!!

News from North Dakota

Hey Everyone! It's been great out here!

I hit 18 months on April 4th so Sister mission complete! Easter and General Conference was a blast! We spent a couple sessions driving around showing up to our friends houses and turning it on for them then leaving to the next person! It was pretty dang awesome.

This week we were able to have a zone conference in Bismarck and check out the revised temple endowment. It was super great and a good focus on Jesus Christ.

It'd finally warming up and it feels unreal. Playing some disc golf today and gonna break out my hammock! Transfers are here in a week and a half, we'll see if I stay but 7 months is a long time for one area. Either way I'm hyped!

Scripture: I love Moses 6: 34 and Elder Bednars talk about it in GC!

Behold my Spirit is upon you, wherefore all thy words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me.

Like Enoch we are all called to be examples of Christ! It's not easy and at times we may feel like he did, saying "why me? I am hated by everyone, and slow of speech... am I really your servant?" I promise the Lord's reply to him is to all of us! Cleave unto God and he will Cleave unto you!

Love you all,

Elder Sport

Just One More Baseball Post

I just can't resist the opportunity to share another pic or two since pretty much all we did today was two baseball games.

Curly pounded one to the fence in game.

Making a Quilt

Last week, the Young Women leaders asked me if I could teach the girls how to tie a quilt. I had to think for a minute because that only gave me a weekend to make a top and gather all the supples. But then I remembered that I needed a baby quilt, so I agreed.

The girls were amazing and they all worked so well together.

The quilt turned out so cute! Today, I finished binding it, just in time for the shower on Sunday.

1st (and 2nd) Game of the Season

Wednesday was a beautiful day for baseball and Curly's season opener. He played a great game at first base, although the team didn't do so well.

Temperatures were in the high 70s and it was shorts and a tshirt.

Thursday's game was totally different. Temps were in the 40s and the wind was freezing. Curly was on first again and he did so good.

I think he must have been warmer than we were... I just about freaked out when the coach put him on the mound to finish out the final inning.

So proud of him!!

So proud that we took him to Maria's for a delicious dinner.

Yum!!

Great way to begin the season.
