Arthur the King - Ticket Giveaway!!

We are so excited about a special advance screening of Arthur the King on Saturday, March 2nd @ 10am at Megaplex Jordan Commons.

If you have never heard of this one, you will want to read this:

Over the course of ten days and 435 miles, an unbreakable bond is forged between pro adventure racer Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg) and a scrappy street dog companion dubbed Arthur. Based on an incredible true story, ARTHUR THE KING follows Light, desperate for one last chance to win, as he convinces a sponsor to back him and a team of athletes (Simu Liu, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Suliman) for the Adventure Racing World Championship in the Dominican Republic. As the team is pushed to their outer limits of endurance in the race, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty and friendship truly mean.

Just my kind of movie! I hope it is yours too! If you can make it to Jordan Commons on Saturday, comment quick and I can get you a 4-pack of tickets (I have 4 sets!)

See you on Saturday!

Dune: Part Two - Coming March 1

Last week, we got an invitation to see an early screening of Dune: Part Two. The kids were so excited (except for Scout; she had to work). Do you remember back in 2021 when we saw the first Dune movie? It has been 3 long years waiting.

This one was awesome! Here is a quick summary from the social toolkit.

Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Just wait until you see what happens with the Sand Worms!!

They even had a little photo-op for us.

After the show, Baby Doll begged me to get her the book for the next one (there are 6). She is not a reader, but she is so invested in the storyline that she just can't wait for Part Three.

If you enjoyed Dune: Part One, you will love Dune: Part Two!

Awarded His Eagle

I have to interrupt my vacation for an important announcement. Curly was awarded his Eagle at his own Court of Honor last night. We are so proud of him!

Such a great day!

Traveling as Two - President's Day

Monday was a beautiful day!! But my sweetie had some work to catch up on, so I spent the day reading a book on my new kindle.

Late afternoon, my sweetie said we needed steps, so we walked down to the corner, crossed the Pacific Coast Highway (it was a little terrifying!), and entered the Circle K to buy a bag of ice.  Then we crossed back on foot, of course, and stopped at the Jack-in-the-Box and bought some ice cream.

Back at the condo, we watched the first Dune movie since we have tickets for the early screening of Dune 2.

Such a great day of relaxing.

Traveling as Two - Sunday

On Sunday, we went to church. Unlike a typical trip where we only go to Sacrament meeting, we also stayed for Sunday School. This ward seemed a lot like ours.

We went back to the condo, ate lunch, and then walked about 100 yards to "our" beach which just happens to also be Sunset Beach.

My sweetie also shared his pics with me.

Such a beautiful way to end an amazing sabbath.

Traveling as Two - Dodger Stadium

We slept for 12 hours. Why does a cruise make us so tired? By 9:00 am we were ready for more fun, which is good because my sweetie booked an 11:00 tour of Dodger Stadium!

I am just going to share pics...

We left the stadium and went looking for the Lunar New Year parade in Chinatown, but it was impossible to find a place to park. After about a half hour of impossible traffic, we found a place called Nick's in Pasadena. It was expensive, but amazing.

Recommend their Bistro platter. At $27, it was a bargain.

My sweetie wanted to drive past Rose Bowl Stadium since we were in Pasadena, but they had a Pokémon event of sorts and there were thousands of people on the grassy grounds.

Lots more crazy traffic and then a stop at the grocery store. Time to go back to the condo. We were both tired.

Traveling as Two - Getting Off the Ship

We had the first debarkation slot. I know this sounds weird, but we had booked a shuttle ride back to the airport where we had a rental waiting for us at Hertz. I sorta wish we had a shuttle all week... the traffic in LA is terrible!!

But I digress...

We couldn't check into our condo in Huntington Beach until 2:00, so we had some time to kill. My sweetie suggested Huntingtom Beach Pier. It was a beautiful day, so we found a parking lot and hiked 3 blocks to the pier.

There was a surfing contest going on and there were tons of people in the water. We watched them for a while before wandering down the pier.

We visited the little shops on our way to the end of the pier where I was surprised at the number of fishermen (yes, the ones we saw were all men).

I asked one guy (not this one, that's my sweetie), what he was fishing for and he said mostly sardines, but they made great bait. He said last week he caught a baby tiger shark, but it bit him so he threw it back...

It was finally time to check into Beso del Sol. It was truly a studio with no living room and a limited kitchen. Since we didn't go to the store, we slipped next door to the King Neptune. It was mostly a bar, but they had a small dining area off to the side. The food was expensive, but pretty good.

My sweetie got the swordfish, but I went for the chicken. When we had eaten our fill and boxed up the rest, we came back to our tiny rooms that felt like our first apartment 40 years ago and we promptly fell asleep.

Traveling as Two - Day at Sea

Did you know that sometimes a "Day at Sea" means just "dragging main" in international waters so the casinos are legal? That was our Thursday and final full day on the ship. We started with brunch in the dining room. The Frog was disappointed with his overcooked french toast so I gave him my nice soft piece. I wasn’t hungry anyway. My sweetie finally tried the Huevos Rancheros and he loved them! We shared a small piece of banana cream pie and it was pretty tasty too.

We attended a comedy show and dinner in the dining room. Did I show you my favorite towel animal? Sorry, I didn't take many pics today.

My sweetie spent some time snoozing on the deck. Too bad it wasn't a bit warmer.

We watched a movie while we packed our bags, and we enjoyed the parade of nations show with Princess and The Frog.

I have really loved our cruise this time! I haven't had a moment of motion sickness and it was nice to spend time with Princess. We even did a free pampering class together in the spa. The Frog was lots of fun too. He had a homemade computer game that was a great way to pass time while we were waiting.

We get off the ship tomorrow morning, early! But I will tell you about that tomorrow.
