We're Leaving on a Jet Plane!

Can you believe it? The day is finally here!

My sweetie and I are winging our way across the country to the east coast. I have to admit I'm a little nervous. It's been a long time since I've flown and I'm a bit prone to motion sickness. Leaving the kids with Drama Queen and Dog Walker makes me feel a bit lost. All I've done for the last 18 years of my life is be a mom and run my world. Turning that responsibility over to someone else is hard.

It has nothing to do with them. It's just me.

But I'm excited for this new and different adventure! It will be so nice to talk to my sweetie without a kid interrupting every 5 seconds or trying to squeeze in between us on the church pew.

Then again, that's exactly what I'm terrified of missing.

Waterfall Hike

Sorry no post last night. I was so dead-dog tired!

I'm not sure how I got roped in to being in charge of the Cub Scout hike yesterday, but somehow it happened. We decided to go on a little trail the boys did last year and I have to confess that it certainly was beautiful, but Sport and I were pretty pathetic. Him, because he just had surgery last week. Me, because I'm old.

One of our leaders is in super shape for hiking and she took the lead with our 6 boys close behind. Our second leader managed to keep up, but Sport and I were way back. They all had to keep waiting for us and I'm sure they were probably annoyed, but they did a good job of not showing it.

It was well worth the trip when we finally arrived at the waterfall. In fact, I'm thinking of taking the family up there in a couple of weeks, but we are going to take the whole thing just a bit slower.

Spring Dance Recital 2016

I just love watching my kids dance!

I'm not much of a dancer, I'm more of a basketball player, so I am constantly amazed with the beauty and grace of my beautiful daughters. This was the first recital this century that didn't include Princess; she sat in the audience with us.

In my somewhat less than humble opinion, my kids stole the show. Crafty was the very first dancer on stage with her solo and she did a fantastic job even though she didn't know she would have to perform so quickly. She is a member of all the highest companies at our studio, Jazz, Ballet, and Tap. She is also part of the Elite Performing team and the Production team.

Crafty's Solo
Curly is an excellent dancer for his size and he loves it. This year he did Tap with Baby Doll, Jazz, and Ballet. For a tough lineman on the football field, he is amazingly agile and coordinated.

Scout also rocks Ballet, Jazz, and Tap in addition to her Performing Team and Production Team. She dances almost every night of the week. I'm still not sure how we managed to squeeze softball in there...

And Baby Doll loves dancing more than pretty much anything else. She also does Tap, Ballet, and Jazz. It seems like we are always at the studio, but Saturday night was the payoff for all of their (and our) hard work. And as an added bonus, Prima Donna was the tech person in charge of all the beautiful lights.

Baseball Birthday Party

Sport is turning 13 next week, and he is a little sad that my sweetie and I will be missing his birthday since we will be in New Jersey with Teach and Twiz for their wedding celebration. I know, they've been married for 4 months now, but the timing is finally right.

More about that later.

So Sport was excited about inviting some of his friends from his baseball team to see a Bees game and that meant we had to do it on a Monday because that is when they have the $5 tickets with the free hot dog. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day. Even while my sweetie was taking the boys into the stadium, he wasn't sure if they were actually going to play a game.

They did finally begin the game about an hour later than the scheduled time. By then the boys were cold and more than a little bored. Sport had his Kindle with and that helped a little. After a while things got exciting, but by the 6th inning, parents were texting me, wanting to know where their kids were and why they were so late.

They finally left the game at the top of the 8th and I have to admit it was nearly 12:30 AM when my sweetie came through the door after dropping off all the boys. But according to Sport, they had tons of fun and it was the greatest birthday party ever, in spite of the rain.
