Guest Blog: Traveling Together: Game and Movie Night by the Dog Walker

We haven't done much for our last night in Georgia, but we pretty much did inside activies, like watching the Mission Impossible marathon, taking naps, and playing games like Skull King. 

Teach and Drama Queen showed me that game when I visited them in New Jersey, so that was my Christmas gift to them. Some of them were a bit intriqued of my naivety on playing Skull King. I was surprised to know that Skull King had almost the same game routine as Pinochole after Mom and Curly taught me and Baby Doll. 

Besides the movie and games, I also drew a bunch of pictures on the computer for my next Samy Kind book. I'm hoping Mom will edit it soon so I can publish it. Anyway, we had to make sure all our luggage has been packed before bedtime, because we will be heading for the airport first thing in the morning. It's been a fun trip to Georgia.

Traveling Together - Swimming Together

Sport surprised us by announcing that he had 2-hour Zoom class starting at noon. It was a surprise to him too, so not complaining. BYU offers this free class to returned missionaries looking to jump back into math classes. Six hours total; it should adequately prepare him for Calculus.

Of course, he had our support! So we just hung around the condo, playing games and doing laundry. Scout and I put together a puzzle.

Baby Doll really wanted to go to the Wellness Center and swim, but that would have to wait until 4:00 when the water aerobics class was over.

The pool was not exactly what we were expecting. It was definitely set up for exercise rather than for fun. Still, the kids had a great time racing each other (Crafty won every time).

Even though the water was fairly warm, my choice was the hot tub.

I visited with an older gentleman about Utah and the Church until, with the 8 of us and him in the hot tub, I think we overwhelmed him. He got out and said his goodbyes.

We all got out and headed for the locker room. I was half-dressed when the fire alarm went off. All the kids but Baby Doll headed for the door, and she frantically pleaded for me to hurry, but that didn’t help me pull my pants on any quicker.

We finally made it to the lobby and I sent her outside. I wanted to make sure my sweetie was out. We all climbed into the car just as the firetruck pulled in. 

We still didn't see smoke or flames, but we decided to get out of the way.

Back at the condo, we watched Mission Impossible 4 and taught Crafty and Sport how to play Pinochle.

Another fun (and sorta scary!) day.

Traveling Together - Jasper

My sweetie and I got up and I started making my chosen meal which was pancakes. He scrambled the rest of the eggs. I was struggling with the small pancake turner, so he took over pancake duty from me and then Crafty took over from him.

After breakfast, we bundled up and piled in the car. My sweetie wanted to explore Jasper. It was about a 10-mile drive that took half an hour. The curvy mountain roads here take forever to get anywhere, but it was worth it when we finally arrived at the nostalgic small-town main street. 

The kids were anxious to explore all the little shops.

They found some pretty unique things, like this leather biker's jacket. Too bad the zipper was messed up...

And the leg lamp that wouldn't fit in our luggage.

One of the store clerks recommended Biguns BBQ for lunch, so we decided to give it a try.

The food was good, but expensive.

We spent the evening cooking tacos, playing Yahtzee, and talking about Grandma B. 

A great time in Georgia.

Traveling Together - Mission Impossible

We all slept in this morning. All that partying last night, I guess...

Seriously, just playing Skull King and watching TV is getting a little old. So we all decided to go for a walk (except Scout).

The kids wanted to take a crazy hiking trail, so my sweetie and I decided to stay on the walking path and off they went. They sent me a bunch of pics.

We spent our entire walk, trying to decide how we could get the kids interested in something. The last time we could remember was during our Fast & Furious phase. That's when we stumbled across Mission Impossible. By the time we walked 8 times around the path, we had come up with 6 missions for the kids to do in between the movies with a final mission and prize.

Here's hoping it will work.
