Busy Weekend

I've spent the last two days watching my amazing Baby Doll play volleyball in a tournament in North Salt Lake. She did a great job even though things didn't turn out the way we all hoped they would. I have some pics for you from Friday's games. They took first place in their pool play!

Baby Doll's Tournament, Part 2

As promised, I am back to finish telling you how the tournament ended.

Saturday morning was so cold! Thankfully, the drive was short and soon we were getting settled at the Jetty. There were four more games of pool play before the actual tournament.

We came out in a 3-way tie for 1st and point spread slipped us into 3rd place. That meant the silver division.  

There was so much sitting around. One of the courts was an hour and a half behind! They finally got moving and after a bit of a struggle, we finally beat them.

That put us in the championship round. Curly showed up to watch as did Beauty and The Beast and their boys.

The final game was easier than the others and we slid by with a decisive win and a gold medal!

A very good day.

Last Day of the Tournament

As it turned out, our team was playing the GSL Elect A team. We are the Elect B team.

They won the first game. But we won the 2nd one. That threw us into a tie breaker that we lost 13-15. It was definitely a close match.

Baby Doll played like a champ. If a stranger stopped by, he would have had no idea she was playing injured.

So proud of her!!

More Volleyball

 

Halfway through the 2nd set, she rolled her ankle and had to be helped off the floor. She sat for a while, but after some trainer tape, Tylenol, and pizza, she was back in the game.

Tonight, her ankle hurts, but she will be ready for the final day of play tomorrow.

Another Tournament

I know, another tournament, right?!

Sometimes it seems that life revolves around volleyball. It probably does for Baby Doll.

So the tournament started Friday at 4:00. Our team always struggles with the first game. We entered the pool as the number 4 seed and the number one seed trounced us. Then the girls had two hours before their next two sets. 

They ate. They worked. (Baby Doll is always the main scorekeeper.) Then they played. Baby Doll and some of the girls were awesome, but it is seldom enough. Games were close, but they lost both.

One last chance seemed promising. They won the first game 25-17. Then they lost the second one 25-27.  They rarely do well in a third game, so we were not surprised with another loss.

More games tomorrow.

Last Day of the Tournament

It wasn’t a great day for our girls. They lost in the first round of the tournament. Baby Doll played well and I was so proud of her.

So awesome...

More Volleyball & Dinner

Baby Doll played so well today! Her team took 1st place in the Silver Bracket. Here's a few more pics for you.

We were at the tournament from 7:15 to nearly 5:00. After we got home, Scout took me and Baby Doll to Denny's for an early birthday dinner.

It was a great day.
