Salt Cake City

Yes, I can still spell. That is the name of the Cupcake lady who came over today and did a class for my Girl Scouts. They loved learning to make fondant and how to frost cupcakes the right way.

So I met this lady way back when in December when I did my first (and last!) Tupperware boutique. She was in the booth right next to us and we had quite a bit of time to chat. When the day was finally done, she traded me about a dozen or so cupcakes for some Tupperware. The kids loved them!

That spawned the idea of a class. Princess wants to be a baker when she grows up and I think her favorite show is Cupcake Wars. She actually MISSED dance class today so she could go to scouts! That is notable in and of itself.

Cute Jennifer of Salt Cake City brought each of my scouts 3 cupcakes to decorate, but first she taught them how to make a marshmallow fondant. I couldn't believe how easy it was! She took a 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows, added about a tablespoon of water, and microwaved it for 45 seconds. Then she stirred it up and added the better part of a two-lb bag of powdered sugar to it. After kneading it for a couple of minutes, she had fondant.

The girls helped roll it and then they cut tiny hearts and flowers. While they were drying out a little, the girls learned how to properly frost a cupcake. They were all so proud of their creations! And they tasted good too. The Gym Rat's birthday party is on Sunday. I'm suspecting that I will have quite a few offers to help with the cake...

That honestly sounds like one of the coolest scout activities. I would LOVE to learn how to make fondant and correctly frost cupcakes! I kinda work with the yw in our ward (I do their music) and if they ever did an activity like this I would so go to mutual! You plan some pretty rad activities!

I LOVED doing this cupcake class for your scouts! It was so much fun! You definitely have some talented daughters who I suspect will own their own bakery some day :) Thank you, Sandy!
