Traveling as Two - Coming Home

Friday morning - we checked out of our condo with plans to go staight to the airport, but then we got a notification that our flight was delayed, so we had an extra hour. My sweetie found us a beautiful distraction, the Newport Beach California Temple.

It was so beautiful and so different from the temples in Utah. We didn't have much time, so we took some pics and then headed for the airport.

After checking our bags, we grabbed lunch in an outdoor bistro that was part of the airport and then we walked up the ramp and onto the plane.

I love going on vacation, but I also love coming home.

Traveling as Two - Griffith Observatory

Thursday was our last full day in California and my sweetie's list still included the Griffith Observatory and he wanted us to get some steps. So after breakfast, we headed for the beach.

Then we packed a lunch and set the GPS to the Observatory.

Griffith Park was really busy and we had to walk halfway up Hollywood Mountain before we finally made it to the front door of the Observatory. Can you see the Hollywood sign behind us?

After the hike, we were pretty tired, so we bought tickets to see the star show.

Then we wandered through the Observatory.

The hike back to our car was much easier going down...

The traffic was terrible and it was late by the time we got back to the condo, but my sweetie still cooked these amazing steaks for dinner.

We got plenty of steps and after we ate, we watched a movie as we slowly packed for the flight home.

Traveling as Two - Driving the PCH

Wednesday started out pretty much the same. Once my sweetie's friends knew he was working, lots of meetings started popping up.

Of course, I, being the dutiful wife, started another book on my kindle.

By late afternoon, I was getting stir crazy so we left the condo in search of the perfect sunset. The PCH was open, so we drove it all the way to Dana Point.

We turned around at Dana Point and then looked for a little mom-and-pop shop to get some ice cream. My sweetie thought the name of this place was hilarious.

So we pulled over.

I ordered a root beer freeze and my sweetie couldn't resist the banana split.

We ate on their cute tables, but as the sun dropped lower, we decided to drive. I love seeing the sun set above the water.

So glad it finally stopped raining.

Traveling as Two - So Much Rain

We should have gone out and about on Monday because it rained and rained on Tuesday, so much so that they closed the Pacific Coast Highway a couple of blocks from our condo. I guess there was water over the road. That's scary, but pretty cool too.

By late afternoon we were stir crazy (I finished my book), so we braved the weather and drove across the street to a local Mexican restaurant.

The plates were huge! The chimis were awesome and half price.

Hopefully, it will stop raining soon.
