Traveling as Two - Patriots Point

We got up early this morning so we could get on the road; first stop - Patriots Point. Because both our dads were in the military, I think we are drawn to these types of museums. I can never resist the opportunity  to see big ships.

This museum had an aircraft carrier and a destroyer.

These ships always amaze me with how big they are. This one carried 3500 people during the war. That is about the size of my home town!!

But my favorite part of Patriots Point was not on either ship; it was the tribute to Vietnam.

It was set up mostly outside, with buildings and equipment like a an actual military camp during the Vietnam War. When I was in college, I took a class on the literature from the Vietnam War and it was fascinating. But even more than that, when I worked at Eyring, I rewrote the documents for the CH-46 simulator and they actually had one of the helicopters!

After we left Patriots Point, we drove across the very beautiful Charleston Bridge.

We got all checked into our hotel, and then we went to the Glass Onion for dinner. We wanted to try some Soul food.

These were truly the best brussel sprouts I have ever eaten! My sweetie couldn't get enough
of his pickled beet salad.

Mountain trout and collard greens. Thanks for the fun adventure, Sweetie!

Traveling as Two - Myrtle Beach, Finally!!

We finally got a chance to explore Myrtle Beach today.

The first thing we did was to drive down to the Boardwalk. So many fun places to take puctures!

But my sweetie had other plans...

He bought us VIP passes on the Skywheel!!

The ride took 30 minutes and our car had a glass-bottom floor.

It was so fun!! I got some great pics. When we were finished, we did a little more shopping and more picture-taking.

My sweetie insisted the girls would love these pics of the sand, but honestly, there is sand everywhere!!

After we were finished with our beautiful funnel cake (sorry, the pic is in my sweetie's phone)

(Found it!!) we decided we wanted to catch a quick nap before our evening activities. I didn't want to miss a single minute of our pirate dinner.

Everyone started out in this ginormous room. I ordered drinks and popcorn and visited the gift shop.

The show was amazing!! (The food... not so much.)

I'm not sure I was supposed to take pics, but I did managed to sneak a couple.

All in all, we had an amazing time and I would definitely do it again.  Now I have to get to bed. We are leaving for Charleston first thing in the morning. Still so much to see!!

Traveling as Two - Myrtle Beach

Today was Sunday, so we slipped into church clothes and we drove about 20 minutes to Myrtle Beach.

I didn't sleep very well last night, so I snoozed through about half the meeting. As soon as it was over, my Sweetie drove me the very short distance to the beach.

This beach seemed to belong to the seagulls, but they didn't mind while I gathered a few shells for Baby Doll.

Then we drove down by the Boardwalk.

Some things were closed, but not nearly as many as in North Carolina. We didn't make any stops, we just drove back to the condo. We spent the after noon bingewatching Rocky movies and planning out the rest of our trip.

We are going to have a great time!!

Traveling as Two - Moving On

Today was a traveling day.

We said goodbye to our beautiful Beechwoods Resort and we headed on down the coast.

I took pics of more freeway trees for you.  We stopped for gas, but not much else until we pulled over for lunch at our first Bojangles.

I'm sad to report that my sweetie thought the chicken too spicy although he loved the coleslaw and surprisingly, the dirty rice.

After about 6 hours of driving, we pulled into our new condo not far from Myrtle Beach. After a quick unpack, we headed for the local Kroger.  We needed groceries before the Sabbath.

We also stopped by the ocean. I tried to grab a pic for you in the dark...

Not great, but I did manage to catch the sunset from our back deck.

Guess what?!

South Carolina is beautiful too.
