Guest Blog: Real Missionary Work by Elder Dog Walker

I wanted to quickly say that the mission is still going good. Today has happened that would be the first time I've done for my Church Service Mission. I've been asked by our next door neighbor to help out with a couple of full-time missionaries at a few houses around our town. The elders thought it was great that I'd help them a little with their services with a couple of neighbors in town. I even convinced them that we meet the Lady Next Door of my house. Sister Lady-Next-Door said that she believes that there is a God and she also believes that the Book of Mormon is true, it's just that, she feels a little inactive, because she couldn't understand how the Church was organized or how it was restored by Joseph Smith Jr. She said that almost her entire family is very religious, even her father does Temple Work at the Manti Temple. The Elders and I thought that Sister Lady-Next-Door has been nice and that we should pray for her so that she can understand that the Church is true and to know how it was organized and restored. I felt that it was easy to start preaching the gospel to a few families around town and it made me feel like I was really on a Full-Time Mission. I hope that the mission has gone very good. I turned 21 today on my birthday. Even through my mission, things are going very well, as long as I'm homework-wise and know what I'm doing.

Little Red Riding Hood

I know Halloween is over, but I've been waiting on the Gym Rat to send me his promised picture. So about a month ago, he asked me to make a Little Red Riding Hood costume because he and his girl wanted to be Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf. Only he wanted the Little Red costume for his 6'6" frame and all 5'3" of her was planning to go as the big bad wolf.

I put if off, of course, until the last possible second since my life is so crazy and I made the costume the night before his Halloween party. When I finished it, it was nearly 4:00 AM the same night we did the Go For the Gold program for the Girl Scout Community. I was tired and a bit punchy.

That's when I decided that with all my hard work, I was going to wear the costume in the morning to the Costume Contest at the city. My sweetie snapped this pic of me on my way out the door. I didn't win anything, but the basket came in handy for the kids who were trick-or-treating.

They also had a pie-eating contest that Burrito won, so I'm throwing in a pic of that too. Sadly, the only thing missing is my long-awaited pic of the Gym Rat and his girl. Maybe he will read this post and feel guilty...

One thing moms are really good at is the guilt-trip.

Leave the Porch Light On

Did I tell you the Gym Rat has a girlfriend? She is so cute! We are hoping it will turn into more than just a romance...

He has been working hard to make his house into a home for two. Not that they are announcing anything, mind you, but I have to tell you they are so made for each other.

My sweetie went over a few days ago to help them install a new porch light. He was pleased to report that the Gym Rat had cleaned up his entire yard and flowerbeds and was busy getting it ready for winter.

He was hoping to get some Trick-or-Treaters since he had a new light, but sadly, only 4 kids rang the bell. Maybe next year.

Hopefully by October of 2015 they will have solidified their relationship and he can put her name on the mailbox too.

The Playoffs

Sport played his first game of the football tournament today. His team is undefeated and they were playing the 4th place team. We were pretty confident, but our boys don't usually do as well at 9:00 am, especially the day after Halloween. :)

They pulled it together and we eventually won the game 20 - 0. Now the boys will play for the championship next Saturday. Sport is very excited! When he played his first year of football, his team managed to win the tournament, so he knows how it feels.

He played really well today! At one point he made a hole (while blocking) that according to Grandpa was "big enough to drive a truck through:" Sport's friend ran 76 yards right up the middle to score a touchdown!

Taco's team lost their game, even though he played well, so their season is over.

I don't think I've talked much about football lately, but it has definitely been a fun year and the weather has been so nice.

I'll let you know how they play next week. Maybe I can even convince Sport to write a guest post.
That will be much easier if they win...
