Dog Walker's Headed Only One Direction

You all know the Dog Walker recently got his first job...and his first paycheck. Those hundreds of dollars made him feel like Rockefeller so early one morning last week after he got off work he climbed in his car and instead of driving home, he drove to the new Walmart down the street.

He had a huge plan in mind. Sister Day!

And he could only think of one thing his sisters would love to have more than anything else...a complete collection of the One Direction dolls!

So he gathered all five dolls into his shopping cart and headed to the checkout. He didn't bat an eye when the total reached $160. After all, these dolls were for his sisters, not him. He was convinced they would love them as he made his way home in the pre-dawn light.

He gently placed them into his specially-made gift boxes and tucked a little tissue paper around each one, then he placed them on the pew and headed off to bed.

But he didn't anticipate the problem.

Mom found them first and she was NOT happy with the amount of money he spent on his sisters. Nor was she to be convinced that the girls would appreciate such expensive gifts. There was an exchange of angry words. "I know I told you that you could buy whatever you wanted with your paycheck that was reasonable...this is not reasonable!"

"It's not for me. I'm not being selfish. I want to make the sisters happy."

Mom forced the Dog Walker to move the dolls to the trunk of his car until a decision was made.

The Dog Walker pouted. Mom was being unfair.

Mom pouted. Why hadn't her autistic son learned how to be careful with his money?

Two days later the Dog Walker figured out how he could win. While Mom was gone, he placed each doll in a different sister's bedroom. Surely if the girls found them before she returned and proved that they wanted them and were excited about them Mom would give in!

A short time later Mom arrived home. She was stunned to see that Baby Doll and Scout were carrying around brand new One Direction dolls still in their original boxes. She gathered them up and approached Dog Walker.

She was not happy. She had been tricked.

He was not happy. She was right.

He stomped around, gathering the the remaining dolls, grabbed his keys and headed out the door.

He was only going one direction...

...back to Walmart.

Fending for Myself

I'm sure you will not be surprised to hear me say that I hate early mornings, especially after I have been up incredibly late helping the Dog Walker with his homework. It's finals week and life is insane. My sweetie would normally take care of me under these circumstances, but he has had early morning meetings twice already this week.

So this morning I had to fend for myself. Even though the elementary kids are off track, their band teacher expects them to show up for band M - TH. Two days each for Crafty and Sport. During January when it was snowy and cold, I let them blow off a few days, but with the concert next week, I just didn't dare let that happen this time.

So at 7:15 am, I was pulling on my shorts from last night's basketball practice (they were on the top of the pile). At 7:20 I got a text from my sweetie. It simply said, "It's snowing." I thought that was pretty funny since it is May 1, but I continued to tie my shoes and look for my keys at the same time.

Prima Donna and Sport were waiting for me when I finally slipped into my jacket and headed for the door. The first thing I saw as I pulled it open were the swirling white flakes. Really?! It's spring for crying out loud...official!

By the time I went back to pick up Sport at 8:15 there has half an inch of snow covering the lawns, sidewalks, and roofs. I didn't think to snap a pic for you then. Sorry.

Just before 10:00, I herded Crafty and Curly out the door for preschool (remember Crafty works at the preschool during her off-track time). All of the snow was melted by then except for what was left on Princess's car and some of the neighbors' rooftops.

I know I said I couldn't let Sport miss band this morning, but it sure looked like January to me!

Another Driver

I told you already that Princess got her driver's license last week. It has been SO NICE to have another driver in the house! Of course I miss Teach and her sweet smile and willing hands while she is on her mission, but I also miss the fact that I didn't have to take the kids everywhere they wanted or needed to go.

Then along came Princess...

Tonight I took Scout to her softball game (it was SOOO cold!) and I kept score. That meant my right hand had to be outside my jacket holding a pencil. Normally I have a pair of fingerless gloves to keep them warm, but today I forgot to bring them. My hand was so cold I kept dropping the pencil. Then when we were finally in the car I tried to warm them up by the heater and they were tingling so badly I could hardly drive.

But I digress...

Curly and I went to the library this morning after his dance class and as we were leaving, he happened to notice a sign for the Family Lego night. Since I was locked into the softball game by virtue of my commitment to keep score, I was sad to inform him that I would not be able to take him back to the library later that evening for all the fun.

That's when it hit me. Princess was perfectly capable of taking Curly and Baby Doll to the library while she was tending them tonight. I told him to ask her and his happy smile quickly returned. He was pretty good at getting Princess to do things for him.

And she did.

Curly loved Lego night! Next time maybe we will switch and I'll send Princess to the park with Scout while I stay inside the nice warm library and take cute little pics like these.

There's only one problem...

Princess doesn't know how to keep score.
