Traveling as Two: Hollywood Wax Museum

Friday was our first whole day in Branson and we had a bunch of things planned. We decided to start at the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center.

We started in the main part; the Wax Museum. It was amazing! Since we travel off-season, it was quiet with no crowds. We didn't have to hurry and we took loads of pictures.

It's so fun to pretend to be someone else! Our All-Access pass offered a couple more options, so we headed to the Castle of Chaos. It wasn’t really a castle, it was a 5D game.

I'm pleased to report that I'm a good enough shooter to beat my sweetie. They even let us play twice since there was too much snow to use the mini golf course.

Our last stop was Hannah's Maze of Mirrors. I typically avoid this sort of place brcause I'm claustrophobic, but my sweetie said he would stay right with me, so I agreed to give it a try.

I didn't get lost! We wandered around until we found our way out. I'm not sure it would have been so easy if dozens of other people were bouncing off those mirrors the same time we were trying to find our way out. All in all, it was a great way to  spend a  morning.

And you know I have a coupon for you! Save $2 on each All Access Pass if you buy your tickets through the following link.

Traveling as Two: Lots of Driving

Since we had to fly into Oklahoma City instead of Tulsa, our drive time to Branson doubled to five hours! Our first stop was the Will Rogers Turnpike Arch. We hopped out of the car for gas and bathrooms and we ended up staying for lunch. My Subway App had a buy one footlong, get one free so we couldn't pass that up.

We explored the small gift shop and my sweetie bought me a beautiful pair of earrings. Then we grabbed our sandwiches amd hit the road.

Finally! We knew we were close to Branson because of the icicles. It was still bitter cold. We got all checked in to our condo and then we settled and I voted to not go out for the evening.  So we finished our sandwiches and made Cup o Noodles we brought from home. We watched a little TV.

Time for sleep. Big day tomorrow.

Traveling as Two - Oklahoma

If you know me well, you know I am a planner. I spend weeks, even months before we go out of town making a trip binder full of maps, hotels, outings, and even eating places. This latest trip has been at least four months in the planning stages, so there was no way we could have predicted that a polar vortex would make Oklahoma and the surrounding states bitterly cold.

Yesterday morning, Dog Walker dropped us at the airport around noon. We got checked in and headed for the Delta Sky Club. Our flight to Tulsa didn't leave until 2:20.

We got on the plane, stowed our gear and settled in.

It was a smaller plane with no screens, so I opened my kindle and my sweetie put on his headphones. After about 20 minutes, the pilot came on to tell us that the only deicer at the Tulsa Airport had broken and the flight was canceled.

We were at the front of the plane so we grabbed our stuff and headed up the ramp. I wanted to be first in line to rebook flights. My sweetie wasn't feeling great and he was fine with just going home, but we finally settled on an 8:45 flight into Oklahoma City. Within 30 minutes. We had canceled one and booked another hotel, changed our car rental, and looked around for an alternate plan for the next 4 hours. We had already been in the Delta Lounge. We had no car, so going back home was not a good choice. At the Help Center, someone suggested Minute Suites. It was close by, so we decided to check it out.

It was NOT cheap, but my sweetie was excited to lay down for a few hours.

We checked out of our little room at 7:00, grabbed food at Panera and boarded the 8:45 flight to Oklahoma City.

This time worked. We nearly froze to death before we got to the hotel, but it was sure nice to sleep. It only took me a couple of hours and sleeping in my hoodie and under my coat to get warm.
