The Amazing Crafty!

Today was the first day of dance competitions for Crafty. Her solo was supposed to be the very last one, scheduled for 9:30 pm, but they didn't get to it until about 10:00. Dance competitions are so expensive, especially for solos, and then they charge $7 for admission, so we didn't go to this one even though she was pretty miffed at us for not supporting her.

All ready to go...

We took the kids to the free theater to see Wonder. What a good movie! When we got home about 11:00, she still wasn't here, so I promptly texted her dance teacher. Crafty walked through the door before her teacher even had time to reply and she was carrying a large 1st place trophy for her division, but even more impressive was the ribbon for Exceptional Technique. There were hundreds of girls and only a couple of those ribbons were given out today and she received one of them!

Love that she is skilled in so many things. Can't wait to see what she does next!

CTE Influencer Award

So many amazing things have sort of slipped through the cracks as we concentrated on the wedding last week. Crafty was invited to an awards ceremony at Bingham where she was presented with the CTE Influencer Award for her work in the preschool and as an FCCLA officer.

We went to school early and she was presented with a certificate and a pin. There were 21 students who were honored from a student body of over 2500 students. They snapped pics for the yearbook and then we were given huge cinnamon rolls that were made in the school kitchen. They were pretty tasty!

Crafty has been doing great things this year and I am so proud of her for her hard work and accomplishments.

Bingham Monster Concert

I've been chasing around all day delivering cookies and taking care of kids, so it was actually a pleasure to finally sit down in the auditorium tonight for Sport's Monster Concert. Bingham had both of their feeder schools' bands play, then Bingham, and then all three bands together.

I just loved their final number with everyone as they played the Battle Hymn of the Republic. I think I've told you before that I would much rather watch a sporting event than a concert, but this number was so beautiful and stirring that I didn't want it to end.

Sport is still on the fence about playing in the high school band next year, so this was a good chance for him to get to know the director a little better so he can make these hard choices. I can't believe how rapidly the school year is coming to a close. The little kids got off track for the last time this year next week. It will be nice to have them home and not have to worry about homework all the time.


Now if I could just not have to worry about cookies...

Watching the Jazz Play

You know how much I love basketball! Last night we had the opportunity to run downtown and watch the Jazz play the Orlando Magic. It's funny to me that we finally got our free tickets from Jr. Jazz well after the season was over. My kids enjoyed the game, but they would have had so much more fun a month ago when they were all still playing.

It was a good game, but the Jazz were ahead pretty much the entire time. The most exciting part was when they chose our section as the "winning" section and they threw tiny basketball balls and other prizes into the stands. Scout was super excited to receive a small box with Jazz earrings and cuff links (which required a little explaining since the kids had no idea what to do with them).

We got home just after 10:00 pm and the kids were all tired and definitely ready to sleep. This morning I woke up to find a small box of popcorn on my desk. It seems that Curly held it all through the game and then carried it to the car for me. He knows how much I love it.

Such a sweet boy.
