Playing Volleyball? Really?

You know I love both playing and watching volleyball, and every Thursday, I am in charge of coed volleyball at our church.

It might sound pretty tame, but for those of us on blood thinners, there are a few extra risks. Like maybe trying to pick up the serve with your leg when your arms can't quite reach is not the best idea.

The next day, I had one of these.

And, at the risk of offending you, a few days later, even without a break in the skin, it decided to become infected.

Now I thought this was a pretty obvious infection, so I went to the Urgent Care for some antibiotics. Unfortunately, the on-call doc didn't care that I was on blood thinners because she was pretty sure it was a clot. Guess what happened next...

I was escorted to the ER for an ultrasound!! Three hours later...

I was NOT as happy as this picture looks, but it wasn't long before they wrote my prescription for antibiotics and sent me on my way.

Such a waste of one of our beautiful fall days.

Swimming with the Grandkids

Some of our happiest summer days this year were spent at the pool. Last Friday, we tried to recreate some of that fun since the older kids were out of school for the day.

They grow up so fast!

More Volleyball for Baby Doll

It is so much fun to watch Baby Doll play on the Jr. High Volleyball Team! Every Wednesday, the evening is filled with competition.

Baby Doll is one of the best players and their team is at the top of the league.

They only play a few more weeks, but I have a suspician that pretty soon she will be playing year round.

STEM Fieldtrip with Baby Doll

Now that my baby is a 6th grader, my days of helping in the classroom and going on fieldtrips are numbered. I love spending time with her and the STEM trip is one of my favorites. Thankfully, we didn't even have to ride the bus this time!

I was assigned to Baby Doll and only 2 other kids. Just having 3 seemed like an easy task... except that they all had different things they wanted to do. Baby Doll wanted to collect candy. R was after swag, and L just liked anything that moved.

So we came up with a plan where each student got to choose. R, then L, then Baby Doll. That way they each got to do what they wanted at least one third of the time.

As it turned out, we had a great time!

Fieldtrip with my Baby Doll...check.
