Remodel

It's been almost 3 weeks since Teach got married, and we are still trying to get our house in order. It doesn't help that we have several hundred boxes of Girl Scout cookies in our living room. But mostly we have been trying to get the kids moved around to different bedrooms. It gives us a chance to do the deep cleaning and get rid of things we don't need.

This time we decided to throw a few home repairs into the mix and we are finally finishing the Dog Walker's bedroom after almost a year of an exposed ceiling. He hasn't been sleeping in there except for the month of January when Twiz was using his bedroom, and it doesn't really seem to bother him, but it bothers me.

I think my sweetie is tired of me announcing new projects this week. Yesterday we finished up the newly organized storage room with all the Christmas stuff. Now today Drama Queen is sorting through the toy closet and reorganizing everything in there. I'm just trying to keep my act together.

It's the basketball tournament and our team lost tonight by 5 so we play tomorrow night at 7:00. I also get to host for the evening so that will take me a good 4 hours. I've got scouts tomorrow and dare I admit I have no clue what we are going to do? I'm helping with the 4th grade rendezvous in the morning and sometime I have to deliver the fundraiser to the high school before I take Baby Doll to the dentist. And somewhere around there I have to deliver several cookie orders that have already asked me to come on Friday.

Some days it all just makes me so tired.

Guess Who is Cavity Free!

Not me.

It's Baby Doll! I was going over her kindergarten paperwork anticipating the orientation next week when I noticed we hadn't gotten a signature from the dentist. So I called their office to see if they would be willing to give us the signature we needed. That's when they reminded me we were actually overdue on our cleanings and of course they had an opening that afternoon.

Baby Doll was a trooper and since we were the first appointment after lunch, they weren't even running late. After this cute hygienist cleaned her teeth, the dentist came in to check her for cavities. The good news is that she doesn't have any. The bad news is that her salivary gland is acting up again.

I was glad she had the headset still on for the movie. She didn't hear me admit that I needed the number again for the oral surgeon. We'll be seeing him on Friday. Hopefully it will be nothing.

I'll let you know.

South Jordan Literary Contest 2016

Have I ever told you I love our city? We have so much fun participating in the various activities around here. Last month they announced a Literary Contest, so I thought it would be fun for some of us to enter. As it turned out, nearly all the public school-aged kids entered and I did too.

Today I got an email that indicated that someone from our email address had won. I was pretty excited to drive up to the Gale Center to find out who. I was so surprised when I was presented with not one, but FOUR winner's envelopes containing cash.

Seven-year-old Curly scored $25 in cash for his 2nd place win in the Child Poetry division. His first response was to tell me he was super excited because he could buy six boxes of Girl Scout cookies! (I don't think so... although I am pretty impressed with his math skills.)

Sport won 3rd place in the Youth Poetry category and he promptly got Princess to take him to WalMart so he could spend most of his $10.

First Place in the Youth Short Stories category went to Crafty and she was thrilled to receive $50 that she needed desperately to pay her dance competition fees for her solo next week.

And last of all, I won 2nd place in the Adult Short Stories division. I guess after 5 years I've had quite a bit of practice writing stories for all of you. Now guess where I am going to spend my $50.

She's Engaged!!

So happy!
It's official! Princess is engaged!

Wait, let me back up a bit. So you all know that yesterday was Leap Day and (in theory) the only day a woman can ask a man for his hand in marriage. Well, last week Jaron formally asked if he could marry Princess, so we have been expecting a ring and proposal to be forthcoming.

This morning, Drama Queen came up with this brilliant beyond brilliant idea that Princess could buy a ring and make the proposal herself (mostly to take the pressure off). So Drama Queen headed for WalMart and bought a $20 ring while Princess was at school. There was very little time for this adventure to take place since Princess didn't get home from work until after 9:30.

But then it was just a few minutes before we heard the knock on the door and her sweetie was here. They drove up to the Draper Temple grounds and got out and went for a little hike by "their" temple. She started to issue her proposal when he dropped to one knee with an "Oh no you don't," and presented her with a ring. She said "Yes," and I'm sure they did a little mushy smooching in front of the temple before they climbed in the car to drive back home.

She called me on the way to tell me and the first question we asked was which one of them popped the question. Not to be outdone, she did present him with the ring in the driveway before they came into the house. By then it was after midnight, so most everyone was asleep, but she made the announcement for me, Prima Donna, Drama Queen, Dog Walker, and on skype with Teach and Twiz.

The wedding is set for May 21 in Draper. Never a dull moment around here.
