Traveling as Two: Fort Smith

We decided to break up the drive back to Oklahoma. Fort Smith is on the Oklahoma/Arkansas border which was about halfway back to Tulsa. We had to drive all the way to Russelville to find a church on that route. It took us nearly 2 hours, but we got there ten minutes before Sacrament meeting started.

People in Arkansas are so interesting and friendly. At least three people welcomed us during the prelude music!

After the meeting was over, we climbed back into our Jeep Grand Cherokee and headed for the border. It was only an hour or so to Fort Smith and way too eary to check into our hotel. We had always planned to visit the Historic Fort Smith, but in trying to find it, we ran across the Marshall's Museum, so we decided to go there first. It was awesome!

We stopped for a drink in their little coffee shop and the views of the Arkansas River were perfect while we sipped soda and shared a blueberry lemon scone.

After a quick stop in the gift shop, we decided it was time to find Fort Smith. It wasn’t far.

It wasn't as amazing as the Marshall's Museum, but as my sweetie said, he was museumed-out by then.

After we left the Historic Fort Smith, it was time to check into our hotel. Only a couple more days before we go back to the real world; work for my sweetie (although he works almost every day anyway) and delivering cookies for me.
