Little Squire's Blessing Day!

It was a beautiful day for a baby blessing... warm and sunny, just like our sweet Little Squire. The Dog Walker and his wife were still out of town as was Little Squire's daddy, so the honors fell to my sweetie to do the name and blessing.

He has actually administered way more than 12 blessings for his own 12. He has blessed Taco and Burrito as well as his youngest sister's kids. So he is pretty much a pro at this point. It was a small, tight circle that supported our little guy as the words were uttered, which was necessary since he was blessed in his very own living room.

Beauty got special permission to have things done at home and then we all shared some delicious treats while we took pictures and the little ones got the chance to play. I will just leave you to those pictures then...

 

Sport's Eagle Scout Project

Well, we did it! We got all 8 baby quilts tied for Primary Children's Medical Center AND to help Sport earn his Eagle Scout award. We are by no means finished, but this was the huge big step that we have finally finished.

We got there about 12:30 to set up and we were actually all cleaned up by 5:30. We have wonderful friends and neighbors that came in and rather than just give us a few minutes, many of them stayed practically the whole time!

I only ever tied half a dozen knots while teaching others to do them. I spent most of my time putting on and taking quilts off the frames.

We started with the original 4 quilts and then replaced each one only once.

Bossy brought some fun activities to keep the little ones entertained.

 

My kids are absolutely amazing when it comes to something like this. They were all there except for Prima Donna and Princess's husband. Dog Walker and Puppy Lover were also missing as they are with her family at Bear Lake for their annual family campout. (I'm sorry we didn't manage to get pics of everyone.)

We even finished up so early that we had a little game of basketball afterward.

What is Normal?

I've been completely sleep deprived trying to help Sport get things together for his Eagle project that is scheduled for Saturday. I started another round of antibiotics for the pneumonia and Curly and Baby Doll had their last day of school. I was so proud of both of them for earning their Soaring Leader Awards. Baby Doll worked especially hard on hers. She was also awarded one of only 2  Citizenship Awards in her class.

Curly played (and lost!) his last regular league baseball game tonight although there are still promises of a tournament to come the first week in July.

My poor sweetie got the most devastating news of all.  If you remember, he has been battling an infection too, this one in his toe. After that first awful trip to the ER where he received IV antibiotics and several subsequent doctor visits and prescriptions, we were told yesterday that the infection has now invaded two of the bones of his toe, and the only real option is amputation. Thankfully, it is his 2nd toe, not the big one, so it shouldn't affect his balance or ability to walk. He will have to take about a week off and then hopefully things will get back to normal.

Honestly, I'm not sure what "normal" really means anymore.

Happy Blessing Day, Polliwog!

Last Sunday we headed out for The Frog's hometown and Princess's new hometown so we could witness Polliwog's baby blessing. It was a beautiful day and the drive down was quick and pleasant. Their sacrament meeting started at noon, so we couldn't go to our own services, but that's OK.

The Frog did a great job with the blessing and I got to spend the entire rest of the meeting holding Little Squire for Beauty. When the meeting was over, we made our way over to Princess's house for lunch. We had just gotten everything set up in the backyard for a BBQ when the rains came down. They were huge wet drops, so we quickly moved the party indoors and then eventually out to the garage. After The Frog moved their cars, it was a nice big space to set up the tables and chairs, although by the time we were ready to get everyone settled to eat again, the rain had stopped.

When lunch was over, I headed for the basement where they have all the boys' toys set up and the other babies were hanging out. I could have spent my whole day there watching them play, but eventually my sweetie got restless and it was time to go home.
