Reflections Tally

The kids have all had their Reflections Awards meetings now and (I think) I can remember where they won. I am so proud of them and as usual, they took their wins and their losses well. Baby Doll was especially excited because this was her first year and as a kindergartner, she competed amazingly against 2nd graders.

I will try to put up some of their videos and pictures a little later. Most of them are moving on to judging at the district level. It will be so fun to see where they end up. I'll keep you posted.

Still Waiting

Last week I was so excited to face this new week so things could get better.

Still waiting...

This morning was crazy. Scout had a sore throat and didn't want to go to school so I added a doctor's appointment for her to my list. Then I helped in Curly's classroom for an hour until Bossy and I dropped Drama Queen's truck with the mechanic. He also did a quick oil change on my car, but discovered problems with my battery.

We ran back home to pick up Chips from Preschool and after feeding all 8 of us lunch, Bossy left. We had decided to go to the Grizzlies Hockey Game tonight for FHE since we could get free tickets with our Pass of All Passes. So Scout, Baby Doll, and I drove to the Maverik Center to pick up the tickets. It was incredibly fast and we got amazing seats.

On the way back, we stopped at the shop to have the new battery installed, and then we made it to the doctor for Scout just in time. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with strep... then Baby Doll was also diagnosed with strep.

I drove the girls home before I ran back to the pharmacy to pick up meds, but then it was time for my dentist appointment. I had already called Drama Queen and told her to take Grandpa and Dog Walker and go without me. I cancelled my visiting teachers so they wouldn't get sick, but we decided after all of our efforts procuring hockey tickets that we were going to the game anyway.

Quick dinner of leftover BBQ chicken sandwiches, picked up kids from dance, and we were on our way. The game was so fun! The Grizzlies won 5 - 2.

Unfortunately, homework wasn't finished until about 11:30 and now I'm exhausted.

I'll still looking for the easier days.

Another Very Happy Birthday

We have so many November birthdays!

Today we celebrated The Frog's birthday with the family. It was a little tricky around tithing settlement and church, but we managed. My sweetie made BBQ chicken and alfredo. We started at 5:00 because Princess and The Frog still had to drive back to Springville afterwards. Everyone was here except for Prima Donna and she called a couple of times so it almost felt like she was with us.

The Frog told me this was his best birthday ever! I hope we made it just a little happier. He grew up in a small family with only one brother so I'm sure it was a bit different to have 25 close family members singing to him all at once. He told me the only other time that sort of thing happened for him was when he was on a band trip back in high school.

I think his favorite gift might have been the Tupperware cake taker because I put all the leftover cake in it and sent it home with them.


We were celebrating, but Grandpa had a stressful day after the earthquake in New Zealand until we heard from my brother. He and his family are safe and well although he did tumble out of bed when the quake hit. I know we are supposed to have a large quake in Utah sometime, but so far we have felt calm and safe here in the valley. Hopefully that won't change any time soon.We want to celebrate lots more November birthdays right here at home.

Prima Donna's Plie

That was by far the most disturbing play I have ever seen!

Whew, now that we got that out of the way, we can talk about how amazing my girls are as actors. Prima Donna did an excellent job playing a Weber State student. She has always been a terrific actress and this show makes her even more versatile.

Then there is Baby Doll.

If I had known what this play was about, I don't think I would have let her be in it, just because it has some pretty dark themes, but she was amazing! She doesn't speak at all which makes it a bit easier, but she still has to follow cues and be on the stage for almost the entire play.

Near the end her character drowns in a pool of water which is really just a large circle on the floor. I didn't get any pics of them carrying her off stage "dead" because quite frankly, I was a little upset at that very moment. (And speaking of pictures, they didn't have a program and no one announced that I couldn't take pictures, so I just did!)

She has 3 more performances next week since she is double cast and Prima Donna has 6. The travel has made this experience difficult, but it will certainly be memorable for her. After watching her "die," I think it will be pretty memorable for me too.
