Teach and Drama Queen were both always destined to be teachers. It was just in their blood and once they set their feet on that path, they never deviated. Both of them just finished their student teaching a couple of weeks ago and are now facing the happy prospects of graduation.
The Gym Rat has just over a year to go on his degree in Finance and although he changes his mind on a regular basis, it looks like maybe he will finish it up this time. He is currently working at a bank, so that certainly could be his future.

I think it’s great that kids nowadays are encouraged to sit down and make plans and goals for the future. Prima Donna and I attended her 8th grade SEOP with a counselor just a few weeks ago. She is already thinking teacher based on her likes and dislikes. Princess wants to be a dance teacher and Sport is thinking a racecar driver sounds good…

So today I asked my 4-year-old grandson, Burrito, what he wanted to be when he grew up. He responded immediately and with enthusiasm that he wanted to be an astronaut! When I asked him why, he told me that he wanted to “blast off.”
That was much better than the discussion I had with Curly. He has been in a destructive mode lately (I think it’s because the Drama Queen gave him a wood and leather battleaxe for his third birthday…yeah, DCFS knows about it already). Anyway, he was destroying his latest victim when I asked him if he wanted to be a policeman when he grew up. He paused for a moment, then he finally said, “No, I don’t think so.”
He stared off into space, and I started wondering if maybe he too wanted to be an astronaut. So I asked him, “What DO you want to be when you grow up?” Without hesitation he responded, “I want to be the Blue Guy on Sport’s football team!” I wonder how much education he’ll need for that…
That is awesome that your kids talk about this all the time - and it sounds like several of them are well on their ways to successful careers!
ReplyDeleteKids say the funniest things! :] And how wonderful that you encourage your kids to get a good education!
ReplyDeleteLol well we all have dreams right? :). I worked for DCFS for almost to years loved and totally hated it t the same time. But more thn happy to not be doing it anymore
ReplyDeleteLaughing! I always wanted to be a teacher, I think because I wanted to be in charge and boss the kids around. Then I grew up and realized I just didn't aspire to be anything but a mom, wife and friend skipping through life.
ReplyDeleteTrying to find the skipping part now...
The blue guy! I love it. It's hard, I think, for people (kids, really) to decide what they're going to do for the rest of their lives when in their late teens/early twenties.
ReplyDeleteLOLs on this one. I loved how goal oriented your childrn are and that is so awesome. I think it is also great that your older children are completing their chosen professions. I enjoyed the smiles on this one.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and I love following your posts.
Haha! I think the blue guy is a great aspiration. I always wanted to be an acrobat. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the things that kids say! Thanks for sharing! I think that Dax is going to be like Curly. It seems they share similar thought patterns.
