Planning a Trip

My kids say I'm an overplanner. Do you believe that?

Most of us are going to Texas next week to visit the places Teach served her mission. We are so excited! Teach was just giving me a bad time because I'm not spontaneous. I want to plan out each day so we fit everything in but we don't feel like we didn't do anything when we get home.

When we take a trip, I make a binder. I print out all the maps of the various travels from hotels to wherever. The kids tell me my GPS can handle that, but I just like to know where I'm going and how long it will take to get there, so I print them out anyway.

I add in fun information on each attraction we are seeing, tickets, confirmation pages for hotels, etc. I just like to keep everything in one place. This is my Texas binder. I still have a bunch of stuff to do. I'm starting to wonder if I need a bigger binder.

Or maybe a little spontaneity.

  1. just think, if you add a few pages for photos at the back of the binder you have a great trip journal afterwards!

  2. Isn't the saying "Everything's bigger in Texas"? You should probably get a bigger binder :)

So excited to hear all about your trip (and finally meet you)!

  3. Oh my gosh; you are just like my husband. He plans every little detail. The only sad things was he planned a wonderful trip back to Palmyra New York. He even had the tickets, car rented, hotels arranged and then my sweet oldest brother got sick and passed away. We used the airplane flights for our daughters to come to the funeral. I still hope we get the trip someday.
I think it is good to plan out things but also be flexible. Wishing your family an awesome trip. I think it is awesome that you are going to visit the area your daughter served in.
    Hugs!

  4. We are planners too. I've never used a binder though...maybe for our next trip.
