This year our ward party planners decided to do something a little different...instead of a regular Christmas party, they patterned the party around Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas. They encouraged everyone to dress up and they even had a costume contest.
Well if you know my Drama Queen, she took this as a personal challenge. After school she gathered up some supplies and headed for our house. She got here an hour before the party and immediately started the makeovers. The girls were awesome with their cone-shaped hair and danglies and bells. And Sport looked awesome with his side-swept hair. The Dog Walker had his all spiked up everywhere and about a half dozen Christmas ties around his neck.
But the most impressive was my sweetie. The Drama Queen made him up to look like the major with the curly gray locks around his ears. It was fun to watch him complain about the curling iron. He didn't dare look at himself before he headed to the church because he was afraid he wouldn't have the nerve if he did.
The kids (and my sweetie) got plenty of attention at the party. We were eventually called up for the contest and we won one of the family awards! It was a hard copy of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and some candy. The most fun was when they had a guy dressed as the Cat in the Hat tell the story while another guy dressed up as the Grinch acted it out. Afterward they had opportunities for the crowd to take pictures with the Grinch and his dog, Max.
We even ate who-pudding and who-hash and rare who-ham beast!

Not to mention some awesome peppermint cookies made by Teach.
I love this! It sounds like such a fun theme for a ward party! Ours is next weekend and the theme is "ward Christmas party" haha.
