It just feels like recently that Mom has asked me to guest blog for her, when it came to talking about my Christmas yard display this year. She wanted me to talk about the annual cousin Christmas party that we went to on the 20th. It was the same family party from Mom's side of the family that was taken place at a stake center down in Lehi.
When working at Walmart, it's not always easy to request a certain day off in December, because often times, when requesting a day off in December during the month, the request is always rejected, so I requested the 20th off a few months ago, just so I could be a few of the associates who could have a particular day in December off for those family occasions.
We had a soup potluck for dinner. Mom made her famous homemade ham and bean soup in which a lot of her siblings wanted the recipe. As well as she wanted the recipe of her sisters' frosted gingerbread men. The little kids were even looking forward to my crockpot of Spaghetti-Os.
We brought Grandpa with us from the Care Center. He was excited and a little nervous of coming to the party, but at least he got to see his children grandchildren, and great grandchildren there. He interacted along with the coloring pages and Christmas song riddles with the kids while the adults mostly visited and talked about all the things that they've done throughout the year.
I was in charge of being Santa Claus for the party this year. It was quite fun, yet a little out of practice of doing a Santa Claus impression, but a lot of the adults confidentially told me that I made a great Santa, as well as Dad does.
We had eggnog shakes and exchanged gifts to one another. I exchanged some of my published Samy Kind books to some of my aunts and uncles and even my siblings who live at college.
It was a really fun party. I wish it could last forever.
