We had our first night of volleyball and I have to admit that I'm exhausted. We played for about 2 1/2 hours; first the women, then coed. We had more people there than I expected for the coed teams and fewer for the women.
I've been in charge of women's sports in my stake for more than a decade now. The older our neighborhood gets, the more difficult it is to convince people to play. And I get that. I'm the queen of broken fingers. Although I probably shouldn't say that since it has been a couple of years since I had surgery on the last one.
Speaking of medical issues, Baby Doll has been struggling the past few months with tummy issues and we have been doing all kinds of tests to see if we can figure out why she is having trouble.
The ultrasound and samples of various things all proved that she was normal. She had a blood panel yesterday and we are only waiting on one last result before we can say that her blood is perfectly normal too.
It is almost to the anxiety or allergy point and I'm afraid that dairy might be the problem.
When we first saw the doctor last week, she told us to stop all dairy. It didn't seem to make that much difference, so on Wednesday, Baby Doll had ice cream and some cheese. Her tummy went crazy and she could hardly sleep. She spent several sad moments sobbing in my lap as she contemplated a life without ice cream, cheese, and yogurt.
How do you tell a 5-year-old that it will all be ok?
As a mom, chocolate and ice cream lover, i feel for baby doll. If it is the case at least there are lots of options out there now. 30 years ago it would've been a pure nightmare to find non-dairy yum stuff

ReplyDeleteThere are many options to make it easier. My 20 month old son has FPIES and his allergy is to all things dairy (including lactic acid, lactose, everything). Coconut milk is a fantastic sub for baking as it's thick and creamy like real milk. Soy milk is a good alternative if you want a plain glass because it has the fatty proteins small children need. We have to read every label... products do not have to list milk as an ingredient if it contains s a finished product that has milk as an ingredient. Like bread doesn't have to list milk if the bread is made with dough conditioner, yet conditioner contains dairy. But since the conditioner itself is a finished product prior to using it in bread, they don't have to list the dough conditioner ingredients. You'll learn to hate labels.
ReplyDeleteOh that sweet Baby Doll; she will be in my prayers. It is so hard to wait doe results. It does appear it may be the dairy products. Bless her little heart. Hugs for her! 💕😊
