We had so much fun today! We celebrated Gamer's birthday with a huge fiesta including a giant pinata. The party started out with just our immediate family, but rapidly spread to friends and extended family. We ended up with 35 people here for dinner.
Bossy came by last night and we made a Tres Leches cake. We also cooked up all the taco meat and did a bunch of other prep work including stuffing the pinata. I got up this morning and made the filling for the chicken chimis before church while my sweetie mopped the kitchen.
We spent 3 hours at church and came home about 40 minutes before everyone was scheduled to arrive. It was a mad house! Thank goodness everyone pitched in to finish up the food and get things together. I rolled 50 chimis while my sweetie did the frying.
We were ready when the people began to arrive and it wasn't long before we had a full house. After everyone had eaten, we moved the party to the front yard where the kids each got a turn to take a whack at the pinata. Sport and Bean Dip were eventually the hitters who brought down the last of the candy, but even so we still had a few who wanted to take a whack at it so we let them beat the poor pieces of cardboard to death while Bossy threw candy up in the air so they felt like they were accomplishing something.
When we were finished, Bossy gathered up all the candy and then redistributed it to all the kids in little sandwich bags. Gamer opened his gifts and everyone enjoyed the tres leches cake. It was a half-sheet cake and it is completely gone!!
It was a great party! It's always so much fun to get together.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Oh my gosh you do know how to throw together a wonderful Birthday Celebration for Gamer. I seriously don't know how you do it all. It is awesome that everyone just helps it happen.
