Scout's Baptism Day

Today was a beautiful day for a baptism! It snowed about an inch last night and that blew away the inversion and gave us some bright, clean air. The dusting of snow made everything on the ground clean too. It was nice.

We got up bright and early so we could be ready to leave for the church by 9:30. The baptism started at 10:00 and Scout and my sweetie would have to change into their white clothes when they got to the church.

There were 4 other 8-year-olds being baptized besides Scout, but because we are the 2nd Ward, she got to go first. The program was short and sweet with a talk on Baptism, our musical number (the kids did a great job!), and then another talk on the Holy Ghost. After that, our group was excused to meet at the font. All went well and she only had to be immersed once.

I helped her change out of her wet things and back into her pretty red dress. We rejoined the family and waited for my sweetie to get dressed. The bishop called on me to talk to the group while we were waiting and it was nice to get a chance to thank everyone for coming and tell Scout that I was proud of her and her choices.

When my sweetie finally came in, Scout was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After lots of hugs and a closing song and prayer, we came back to the house for lunch. My sweetie made chili last night and we had salads and rolls and of course Princess's famous cupcakes. We fed about 40 of our closest friends and relatives.

By the time the last people said their goodbyes, we were so tired. I slipped upstairs and laid down for an hour, but some of the others just sacked out wherever they happened to be.

All in all it was a beautiful happy day with plenty of cupcakes for everyone.
