Coloring Party

I come from a long line of colorers.

My mom used to encourage us to use crayons and our imaginations and often she would color with us. Grandma had a cake pan clear full of crayons and a cupboard full of coloring books. We liked to color!

It seems to be a gene I have passed on to my kids. They love to color, even into their adult years. I think that is part of the reason Teach decided to major in Elementary Education. One of her favorite activities was making folder games and most of them required tons of coloring!

The other night the kids were down at Bossy's house and she had them all coloring. And just yesterday I dragged myself out of the office to see why things were so quiet and Princess had them all on the floor in the entryway coloring princess pictures. Except for the Dog Walker. He actually never liked coloring. He just didn't see the point. He didn't even like to color pictures that he had drawn himself.

We value their work and I often hang it up, put it into their scrapbooks, or more recently, send it to Teach. In fact, for Scout's baptism one of her uncles gave her a glitter pen with a dozen different colors in it. It is truly cool. She used it to color numerous pictures from coloring books and a bunch of them were sent on to Teach.

And I have to confess that I have WAY more than a cake pan full of crayons! I have a half dozen bins with markers, crayons, pencils, watercolors...

  2. Awesome! I love to let the grandchildren color. It is so fun when they each learn to color inside the lines.
I have a fond memory of my first time of coloring inside the lines.
    Blessings!
