Post-Vacation Blues

Am I really getting that wrinkled?
Wow, I don't think I've taken two days in a row off from the blog since I started it! I'm having one of those moments when I just don't want to get back into real life so here I am pouring my heart out again. I guess I've had them before when we have been on vacation, but this one appears to be much bigger. Maybe the bigger the vacation, the longer you want to keep on it?

I got home to such a pile of paperwork and laundry... Even though Bossy washed everything while I was gone (she even washed bedding and remade everyone's beds!) we still brought home loads and loads of stuff.

For some strange reason, I got out of the habit of cooking. Now I don't want to cook AT ALL! Which is sad because all the kids are just hoping for all their favorites since two weeks of hamburgers and chicken nuggets gets a little old.

And the last thing I want to do is get the kids ready to go back to school. Normally our summer would have been over a couple of weeks ago, but the school switched tracks on my elementary kids so they don't go back until August 20. And thank goodness because I am SO not ready for homework and early mornings!

Any suggestions on how you battle post-vacation blues? I'm sure needing some.

  1. Everyone has those moments, just take it one day at a time. keep some time just for you, do what you want to do in that time frame..Make easy dinners, sloppy joes comes to mind, with coleslaw maybe some veggies, (corn anyone?! Teach one of your older children to help out with the meals until you feel better to do it..How about breakfast for dinners and sammies for breakfast, no rule in having to make elaborate foods for your family is there? no just go with the flow..You need to rest it sounds like, so much to do and little time before your kids get back to school, so rest up and relax and recoup...You will come to your own very soon!!! Take care of your sweet self, ask your hubby to cook up a roast or two chickens or three and use the meats of both for sammies and soup no fuss meals..fruit for dessert easy peasy..take care!

  3. I'm not really interested in cooking right now either, after a week back from vacation. Hopefully we'll both rebound soon!

    it is a small world!
How is it that I've never run across your blog??!!

Looking forward to reading your posts.

I think the end of summer, and vacation doldrums have set in for quite a few people .
    It's hard to shift gears.

Hopefully, you'll get motivated to gear up and get back into your routine :)

    Smiles :)

  5. The hardest part is always cooking again. Good luck getting back in to the swing of things.
