You all know that Teach is trying really hard to be a teacher. She has finished all of her coursework and she is getting ready to do her student teaching at a local elementary school. (So is the Drama Queen, although her student teaching is in a junior high.) But this story is about Teach.
Last year she had an assignment to do something with a child. That’s it…do something…and then turn it into a lesson. It was supposed to be child-directed, in other words, the kid got to pick the activity. So Teach partnered up with Scout and asked her what she would like to do. She immediately said she would like to bob for apples. Who thinks of that???
But Teach is usually up for any kind of adventure, so she loaded Scout in her car and off they went to the grocery store to buy some apples. I’m not sure how it happened, but they also ended up with doughnuts.
So Teach pulled out her camera and got these fun and amazing pics of apple-bobbin’. This one of Scout and Sport is my favorite! I'm not sure why Teach didn't give you part 2 of this pic because after they posed with it together, that slippery little apple fell and they ended up knocking foreheads! Ever ready with the camera, Teach captured the whole thing. (Maybe I can get her to find it and put it in when she gets home from work.)
Part 2- As promised. |
I’m still a little fuzzy on the lesson here (perseverance, maybe?), but it was fun to watch the kids try to bite into a doughnut that kept swinging away from them. Except for the Dog Walker. That poor doughnut didn't stand a chance. He pretty much swallowed the whole thing in one bite.
As a parent, I’m thinking I want my little ones to be in Teach’s classroom…education has sure changed since I was a kid…and the playgrounds are much safer too.
Fun! I remember my student teaching days.. THE BEST! I am now "friends" on facebook with one of the gals that was in my class, who has turned into an amazing young woman! Good Luck to them this semester! Soak it up!
ReplyDeleteYour favorite picture is mine too. Looks fun! So what lesson did she teach from this?
ReplyDeleteAw these are great! I was never allowed to bob for apples. My mom was afraid of herpes and such.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post; I smiled all the way through it. I thought the pictures were priceless and I loved the donut idea. I will try that with some of my grandkids sometime.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and keep on enjoying those moments!
Looks like everyone is having lots of fun. I did the bobbin' for apples thing...and wrecked my jaws so badly that I now suffer every time I go to the dentist...so this mama does NOT bob for apples any longer LOL. I also make sure my kids do it the right way.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun lesson!
ReplyDeleteI loved student teaching. And was completely stressed out by it, too.
