I just got back from Kohl’s. It’s my favorite place to look for bargains. With all these kids I have to be a careful shopper, so I am constantly on the lookout. Last week Big Daddy and I spent a couple of hundred dollars on all the clearance toys. That will keep us stocked up for birthdays and even some of Christmas for the next year. But then they had to give me $30.00 in Kohl’s Kash which of course means I had to go back to the store this week.
I took Bossy with me because she can smell out a bargain anywhere and if she can’t find one, she will ask for one. We left all the kids home but Baby Doll who became extremely heavy somewhere between the 20th and 25th clearance racks! Bossy can’t carry the baby because she has to look at every item on every rack. It was about then that I remembered how much I hate shopping with her.
To her credit she found a nice pair of jeans for Gamer for $2.60. She also rounded up 3 pairs of boys cargo pants for Sport at $5.40 each, and a couple of pairs of earrings for less than a dollar! I found an XXL shirt for the Gym Rat’s birthday for $1.60 and because of a tiny rip in the Levi's I found for him, Bossy talked the cashier into $7.00 instead of $10.00.
The Prima Donna’s new gym shorts for school cost $1.40. I also snagged a pair of jeans for Dog-Walker and a blue sweater dress for Princess. Two little pairs of stretch pants for Baby Doll and a necklace later we walked out the door for about $35.00. It was a good shopping day.
Woot woot! Sounds like a very good deal. :) I wish you'd find me some more black pants on deals like that. Both my pairs of work pants have tears in them now, but I don't want to condemn a pair of my nice slacks to the deadliness of working at the gas station. :(

I'll look, but last time I was there we couldn't find much in Womens. I do have some good coupons for Penneys...
ReplyDeleteYou guys have a gift. I seriously struggle in this department, mostly cause I have no patience when I leave the house with my small people and just want to get in and out. But I NEED to work on this. I have never actually been to Kohls so now I'm excited for next time i have to shop.
ReplyDeleteYou have to get a credit card! Then they send you extra percentage off coupons all the time. The last one I had was 30% and it works on clearance too!
ReplyDeleteUgh try two because it lost half my comment.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately you either have to train the little people to like shopping (like my boys) or have some one big enough to keep them from killing each other.
What she writes is true I do need to look at every clearance rack the first time I search a store for clearance. But once you have an idea for where they hide the clearance and what a deal is at the store you can usually make it in and out in less than an hour.
The best kept secret about retail is that even part timers get the store discount and being on the floor means you always know where the deals are. Most stay at home mom's should try to get a part time retail position just for a discount and the perks of knowing the deals. The times stores need help is usually when hubbies are home to watch the kids. And you can keep your sanity just remembering you are there to find the deals for you kids.
I don't want a discount that bad! I just try to get people I know and love to work at my favorite stores. Ever heard of "Friends & Family"?
