Saturday was a work day. We really needed to get the garden in. Thankfully, Bossy went to Lamberts and picked up a bunch of plants for me. Dog Walker spread Nutrimulch while I ran out to the IFA for 16 more bags. It was all he could do to get them all spread before he had to go to work.
Curly was at Beauty and The Beast's house. They hired him to do some yardwork for the summer and Baby Doll had been invited to see Wicked on stage with Sport and R. Then I took off to grab more things at Smiths and then even more stuff from Sams.
By the time I got back and put stuff away, Curly was home. He took a nap, but promised to get up and help me plant at 6:30. I sewed bindings on several quilts for Baby Dolls Silver project and mixed up some meatloaf for dinner.
It was time to plant. Curly dug holes for the peppers and tomatoes and I put them in. My sweetie planted beans with a little help from Baby Doll while Curly finished covering and tamping down the plants.
Time for dinner! Baked potatoes, meatloaf and corn on the cob. Then it was time to finish planting the seeds.
Two rows of beets, 8 rows of corn, cucumbers...It got dark before we got to the zucchini and pumpkins. But it is nice to know we are almost finished. More sewing and packing the van for tomorrow.
Oops! Spoiler...
Okay, I'm starting to think that Mom has been asking me to guest blog for her for the last couple of days, but I shouldn't complain about that. She's been busy helping Baby Doll with her Silver Award project by tying baby quilts for donation. They've been doing it for a few days now and they only have a few more left to tie before Mom can sew up the edges. Most of the time while Mom, Baby Doll, and Scout were tying the quilts, I've been reading some of the Great Brain series to Mom. I'm on the second to last book of the series. It's quite a story about a young boy in Utah who has a brother who uses his great brain for many things. I wonder if some of my family could use a great brain to help Mom and Baby Doll to finish the quilts.
I've given a lot of Mother's Day gifts to my mom this year. I guess that writing this post for her would be a belated mother's day gift. Anyway, I painted a big rock with a heart on it, because she likes the song by Paul Simon, "Love Me Like a Rock." I also made carrot cupcakes with a special carrot cake mix from Easter. We had a little Mother's Day party with the family. Scout, Crafty, and Sport made some homemade chicken soups for dinner. They were delicious. I had some Mother's Day gifts for my sisters. I gave a Wicked Monopoly game to Scout, and a Wicked DVD to Beauty and Crafty. And last I gave the Olsen twin movie, It Takes Two to most of the rest of my sisters who were married and have kids. They were very excited to see that movie again because it's been years since they've seen it. We had quite a good time visiting and enjoying the soups with everyone.
