Guest Blog: "I Got a Rock" by Crafty

In the words of Charlie Brown…”I got a rock”

Okay now time for the cheesy part..

Last year over Memorial Day my boyfriend took me to Silver Lake and asked me to be is his girlfriend. Now, 52 weeks later he took me to Silver Lake, and with 52 playing cards, asked me to be his wife.

Memorial Day Weekend - Monday

Monday was our day to hit most of the cemeteries.  Our first stop was Aurora and Grandma and Grandpa Shaw.

After that. We drove north to Axtell.

We put flowers on my two great aunts and my great uncle as well as Grandma and Grandpa Duffin.

A few more miles to Centerfield.

Flowers for the grandma of my youth and her husband who died very young.

We drove to Ephraim to check on my dad's house. And then to the cemetery. We couldn’t resist a stop by the new temple to see the progress.

We drove to Mt Pleasant, but skipped the cemetery. We had visited there yesterday, so we drove to the power plant for a picnic.

After we cleaned up, we drove to Nephi to place flowers on my Grandma and Grandpa's graves.

Next stop was Princess's house to drop off and pick up s few things. We found this cute dance costume I passed along to Duchess.

One last stop in Spanish Fork for ice cream at Glades and then it was time to drop off the Provo people. The van was suddenly much quieter!

Finally, a stop in South Jordan for our angel baby grandsons before we reached the house.

It was an amazing and difficult perfect day.

Memorial Day Weekend - Sunday

Sunday morning and we were up bright and early to pack the van before church. My sweetie had to teach Elders Quorum, so even if we had wanted to, we wouldn't have been able to skip.

We had the road right after church since we were stopping in Provo to pick up Crafty, Sport, and Scout. That gave us 8 total, with Curly, Baby Doll, and Dog Walker rounding out the group. It was about an hour to Mt Pleasant and we didn’t want to keep the family waiting.

We walked into the house just as they were getting ready to pray! Lunch was delicious, of course.

My girls are so silly.

After lunch and visiting, we left for the cemetery. All of my sweetie's siblings were there. We talked and laughed until my sweetie was ready to leave. Taco asked to join us, so we had one more more passenger.

We drove another hour or so until we got to Richfield. The kids were anxious to swim and lounge in the hot tub.

We did find out that Dog Walker's cannonball makes the biggest splash.

Back in the room, we ate dinner and the kids played games until bedtime.

Another great day!

Memorial Day Weekend - Saturday

Saturday was a work day. We really needed to get the garden in. Thankfully, Bossy went to Lamberts and picked up a bunch of plants for me. Dog Walker spread Nutrimulch while I ran out to the IFA for 16 more bags. It was all he could do to get them all spread before he had to go to work.

Curly was at Beauty and The Beast's house. They hired him to do some yardwork for the summer and Baby Doll had been invited to see Wicked on stage with Sport and R. Then I took off to grab more things at Smiths and then even more stuff from Sams.

By the time I got back and put stuff away, Curly was home. He took a nap, but promised to get up and help me plant at 6:30. I sewed bindings on several quilts for Baby Dolls Silver project and mixed up some meatloaf for dinner.

It was time to plant. Curly dug holes for the peppers and tomatoes and I put them in. My sweetie planted beans with a little help from Baby Doll while Curly finished covering and tamping down the plants.

Time for dinner! Baked potatoes, meatloaf and corn on the cob. Then it was time to finish planting the seeds.

Two rows of beets, 8 rows of corn, cucumbers...It got dark before we got to the zucchini and pumpkins. But it is nice to know we are almost finished. More sewing and packing the van for tomorrow.

Oops! Spoiler...

Signing Day

On Thursday, I went with Curly to Signing Day. Sort of like signing to play for a college team, Bingham had all the boys on the football team come in and sign the Ethics Code. They had food and a couple of former players speak to us.

We had a great time!

Skittles' Dance Recital

Last Saturday, we spent an hour or so watching Skittle's dance recital. He was in two dances, Tap and Hop-hop. We were close enough to the stage to get a few good pics.

Great job, Buddy!

Guest Blog: Baby Doll's Silver Project by the Dog Walker

Okay, I'm starting to think that Mom has been asking me to guest blog for her for the last couple of days, but I shouldn't complain about that. She's been busy helping Baby Doll with her Silver Award project by tying baby quilts for donation. They've been doing it for a few days now and they only have a few more left to tie before Mom can sew up the edges. Most of the time while Mom, Baby Doll, and Scout were tying the quilts, I've been reading some of the Great Brain series to Mom. I'm on the second to last book of the series. It's quite a story about a young boy in Utah who has a brother who uses his great brain for many things. I wonder if some of my family could use a great brain to help Mom and Baby Doll to finish the quilts.

Baby Doll's Band Concert

Baby Doll was awesome in her final concert of the year. She is the one in the peach dress.

They played the Theme From Star Wars and half a dozen kids fought with light sabers all over the audience.

Then when all the bands had played their numbers, they did one gigantic number together.

It was a great day!

Guest Blogger: Mother's Day Party by the Dog Walker

I've given a lot of Mother's Day gifts to my mom this year. I guess that writing this post for her would be a belated mother's day gift. Anyway, I painted a big rock with a heart on it, because she likes the song by Paul Simon, "Love Me Like a Rock." I also made carrot cupcakes with a special carrot cake mix from Easter. We had a little Mother's Day party with the family. Scout, Crafty, and Sport made some homemade chicken soups for dinner. They were delicious. I had some Mother's Day gifts for my sisters. I gave a Wicked Monopoly game to Scout, and a Wicked DVD to Beauty and Crafty. And last I gave the Olsen twin movie, It Takes Two to most of the rest of my sisters who were married and have kids. They were very excited to see that movie again because it's been years since they've seen it. We had quite a good time visiting and enjoying the soups with everyone.
